Tax Senior – Broad-Based Tax Generalist
We are seeking an experienced Tax Senior to join our small, client-focused firm in San Antonio, Texas. This position is ideal for a high-performing tax professional who can independently manage a broad range of tax and accounting assignments.
Because we are a small firm, our Tax Seniors work across multiple service areas. The successful candidate must be capable of producing high-quality, senior-level work on individual, business, fiduciary, and bookkeeping engagements. This is not a narrow production role limited to one type of return. We are looking for someone who can move confidently among different types of clients and assignments while maintaining consistent technical quality, accuracy, organization, and professionalism.
Our clients include individuals, high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates, corporations, partnerships, and other small and midsize businesses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Preparation of returns that are “client ready” (accurate & substantially complete) when delivered to the Partner for final review.
· Review of individual, business, & fiduciary tax returns prepared by staff; resolve issues and present complete returns to Partner.
· Review and clean-up of clients’ QuickBooks’ bookkeeping, in advance of preparing their respective business tax returns.
· Input and review of monthly and quarterly QuickBooks bookkeeping for clients
· Assist with tax research, tax notices, extensions, estimates and other tax-related projects as assigned.
What You'll Bring:
· Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing tax returns for corporations, partnerships, trusts, and high net worth individual clients
· The ability to perform competently across all of the service areas listed above.
· Extensive working knowledge of tax law and significant bookkeeping experience
· Dedicated to high quality, detailed work.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· A self-starter who takes initiative and has the ability to deal with multiple priorities and handle multiple types of clients and engagements.
· Strong work ethic and collaborative interpersonal skills
· Professional demeanor
· A commitment to accurate, thorough, and well-documented work
Work Schedule
· 40 hours per week during the off-season
· Up to approximately 50-55 hours per week during peak tax season, generally from February through April 15
· Rarely, additional hours may be necessary for unusual deadlines or client needs.
What You'll Love About Us:
· This position will interface directly with clients, so you can build and enjoy client-facing relationships
· A broad and varied workload rather than a narrowly defined production role.
· Competitive compensation
· Opportunity to progress to Manager position, as the firm grows
· We celebrate the end of tax season by closing our office at Noon on deadline day, and we’ve declared the day after the deadline as a Firm Holiday!
· A supportive, team-oriented environment.
