Role Title: Remote Accounting Manager / Senior Accountant- Pack Leader
Location: Fully Remote — Kenya-based professional supporting a U.S.-based accounting team
Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
Schedule & Availability: Strong and consistent overlap with U.S. business hours, with reasonable flexibility based on client and team needs
Reports To: Quality Control Lead (QCL)
Team Alignment: Recurring Services / Client Accounting
Client-Facing: Yes — expected to become increasingly client-facing over time
This is a leadership position, not simply a senior bookkeeping role.
The Pack Leader will:
● Lead and supervise Staff Accountants / pack members.
● Own the quality and timeliness of assigned client financials.
● Ensure work moves from assignment through completion without constant escalation.
● Make sound accounting and operational judgment calls.
● Identify problems, determine solutions, and ensure those solutions are implemented.
● Support Relationship Managers with client-ready financial statements and insights.
● Help improve accounting workflows, systems, and internal processes.
● Develop into an increasingly client-facing accounting leader as transactional accounting becomes more automated.
The ideal candidate combines strong accounting expertise, leadership maturity, ownership,
curiosity, adaptability, problem-solving ability, and executive presence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pack Leadership & Supervision
● Directly supervise Staff Accountants / pack members through daily leadership,coaching, and oversight.
● Assign, prioritize, and monitor work across the pack.
● Ensure team members understand responsibilities, deadlines, and expected quality standards.
● Conduct regular check-ins to review workload, performance, development, and obstacles.
● Mentor team members in accounting fundamentals, systems, client service, and LCDG standards.
● Provide direct and constructive performance feedback.
● Make appropriate judgment calls on behalf of the pack.
● Take responsibility for team outcomes rather than automatically routing decisions upward.
● Hold team members accountable for completing work accurately and on schedule.
● Develop the technical and professional capabilities of junior team members.
● Demonstrate calm, confident leadership during demanding periods.
2. Ownership, Problem-Solving & Decision-Making
● Take ownership when an accounting, operational, or client-related problem is identified.
● Work through problems independently before escalating.
● Determine what information is needed to reach a solution.
● Research answers when the solution is not immediately obvious.
● Make sound professional judgment calls when appropriate.
● Ensure solutions are actually implemented rather than stopping at problem identification.

3. Workflow Management & Delivery
● Organize daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual responsibilities across the
pack.
● Maintain visibility into active work and outstanding deliverables.
● Rebalance workloads when necessary.
● Ensure recurring client responsibilities are completed accurately and on schedule.
● Track open questions and outstanding items through closure.
● Prevent work from stalling while waiting for responses.
● Provide proactive status updates to internal stakeholders.
● Ensure month-end and other deadlines are met consistently.
● Create structure and accountability across multiple simultaneous client workflows.
4. Accounting Execution & Financial Oversight
● Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting for U.S.-based restaurant and multi-unit clients.
● Record and categorize transactions accurately.
● Perform and review bank and credit card reconciliations.
● Manage and review accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows.
● Maintain full ownership of assigned client Profit & Loss Statements and Balance Sheets
● Prepare, review, and analyze:
○ Profit & Loss Statements.
○ Balance Sheets.
○ Cash Flow Statements.
○ Supporting schedules and reconciliations.
● Identify unusual balances, discrepancies, missing information, or incorrect classifications.
● Resolve accounting issues independently when possible.
● Ensure client records remain complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
● Maintain strong accounting documentation within QuickBooks Online and Restaurant365.
5. Month-End Close, Quality Control & Audit Support
● Lead and oversee month-end close processes.
● Ensure all required reconciliations are completed.
● Review financial statements before submission to Quality Control.
● Resolve open accounting questions within the close cycle whenever reasonably possible.
● Support quarterly hard closes.
● Prepare work for QCL reviews and audits.
● Ensure supporting schedules and documentation are complete.
● Maintain strong internal controls and documentation standards.
● Ensure financial information is useful, understandable, and appropriate for the client environment.
6. Flexible Accounting Judgment
● Apply sound accounting principles without becoming unnecessarily rigid in situations that require professional judgment.
● Understand that restaurant bookkeeping may require practical business judgment alongside technical accounting knowledge.
● Recognize that the most useful presentation or process for a client may evolve as circumstances change.
● Understand the business reason behind financial reporting decisions, not merely the technical rule.
● Be comfortable operating in gray areas where several reasonable options may exist.
● Adapt processes when new information, technology, or client needs justify a better approach.
● Avoid relying on “this is how it has always been done” as the default answer.
● Balance accuracy, consistency, usefulness, and client needs.
7. Client-Facing Accounting Leadership
● Develop into a regular client-facing accounting leader.
● Communicate clearly and confidently with restaurant owners, operators, and financial stakeholders.
● Explain financial information in understandable business language.
● Maintain control of accounting conversations and client calls.
● Remain composed when clients challenge, question, or misunderstand financial information.
● Listen carefully to what a client is asking.
● Identify the underlying issue behind the surface-level question.
● Guide clients toward the appropriate accounting or business solution.
● Adapt communication style to different client personalities.
● Build trust and strong working relationships.
● Work effectively with both casual entrepreneurial clients and more formal corporate stakeholders.
● Demonstrate executive presence and confidence in accounting knowledge.
● Partner with Relationship Managers to prepare financial statements and insights for client review meetings.
8. Client & Cross-Team Collaboration
● Work closely with U.S.-based accountants, Relationship Managers, Quality Control Leads, and internal support teams.
● Communicate professionally regarding financial questions, deadlines, and outstanding issues.
● Provide accounting analysis and context for client discussions.
● Coordinate effectively across teams to ensure deliverables are completed.
● Close communication loops rather than assuming another team member will follow up.
● Surface risks early enough for the team to address them.
● Support a collaborative environment while maintaining clear accountability.
9. Process Improvement & SOP Development
● Document and maintain bookkeeping and accounting workflows.
● Update SOPs as processes evolve.
● Identify inefficient or outdated practices.
● Recommend practical process improvements.
● Help implement approved workflow changes.
● Look for ways to improve:
○ Accuracy.
○ Close speed.
○ Team communication.
○ Client reporting.
○ Workflow visibility.
○ Quality control.
● Encourage team members to understand why a process exists rather than simply following instructions.
10. Technology, AI & Automation
● Demonstrate curiosity toward accounting technology and process automation.
● Use technology to improve accounting efficiency and accuracy.
● Maintain advanced hands-on QuickBooks Online proficiency.
● Learn and use Restaurant365 where required.
● Explore opportunities for AI to improve recurring accounting and administrative processes.
● Use approved AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or comparable platforms where appropriate.
● Ask proactively: “How can AI help me do this better?”
● Review and validate AI-generated work before it enters client files or financial reporting.

Requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
● Minimum 7 - 10+ years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience.
● Candidates with 10+ years or significantly deeper relevant experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
● CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting certification.
● Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience managing accounting or bookkeeping staff.

Restaurant365 experience is a strong advantage but is not mandatory. Training can be provided for an otherwise exceptional candidate.
QuickBooks Online Expectations
Advanced QuickBooks Online proficiency is a major priority for this role.
Candidates should be able to:

Working Hours
● Full-Time — 40 hours per week.
● Strong overlap with U.S. business hours is required.
● The candidate should work as closely to normal U.S. business hours as reasonably practical.

● The schedule does not need to be an inflexible 8:00 AM–5:00 PM or 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Eastern Time schedule.
