The Laboratory Review RN is responsible for the timely review, analysis, and reporting of outpatient laboratory results to patients and providers. They also monitor result queues, manage patient communications regarding treatment changes, and report communicable diseases to health departments.
The Laboratory Review RN, under the direction of the Medical Director, Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement, is responsible for the timely review and communication of outpatient labs to patients and providers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze, review and report on positive outpatient laboratory results.
Monitor results queues of all sites and report any delays in reporting or patient care.
Clear lab queues of negative results.
Communicate with patients regarding positive results or need for treatment changes with the collaboration of providers.
Call patients with results when indicated and send mail to patients in the event that the patient cannot be reached by phone.
Work within the team of RNs to ensure timely review and reporting of results to patients and treatment changes, when indicated, with provider oversight.
Report communicable diseases to state departments of health.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in acute care and lab interpretation is highly preferred.
Ability to work well independently.
Strong conversational skills.
Strong customer service skills.
EDUCATION
2 or 4 year completion of an accredited nursing program
REQUIRED LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION
Licensed Registered Professional Nurse or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree required.
License is active in one of the following states: NY, IL, IN, MI, or PA
MENTAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS
Works in clean, smoke-free and well-lit spaces.
Exposure to frequent deadlines/ must have ability to handle stress effectively, subject to frequent interruptions
Must have good visual and hearing acuity.
Must be able to utilize keyboard and view computer screens up to 90% of shift.
Must be able to follow directions and work collaboratively with others.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend, climb, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions of hands and/or wrists.
Requires some physical work; lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 10 pounds.
Pay starting at $74,800/year
