Description of Work
The Registered Nurse conducts onsite and in‑office licensure and certification surveys to determine whether health care providers meet State Licensure and Federal Certification requirements. The role evaluates compliance across multiple program areas, including acute hospitals, critical access hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, abortion clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, cardiac rehabilitation centers, end stage renal disease providers, portable X‑ray suppliers, rural health clinics, outpatient rehabilitation therapists, and rehabilitation facilities.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Expert‑level management skill demonstrated through performing regulatory tasks that require independent judgment, coordinated teamwork, and oversight of complex survey activities.
Strong oral and written communication proficiency demonstrated through preparing clear compliance documentation and engaging effectively with providers, public groups, and professional organizations.
Advanced investigative and analytical competency demonstrated through evaluating survey observations, record reviews, interviews, and compliance evidence during licensure and certification review processes.
Intermediate computer proficiency demonstrated through use of Windows‑based systems, MS Office products, electronic data management tools, and digital submission workflows.
Demonstrated experience applying state licensure rules, federal certification standards, and program policies across diverse health care settings, supported by prior regulatory or provider‑side work.

About the Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR):
The Division of Health Service Regulation oversees medical, mental health and adult care facilities, emergency medical services, and local jails. We check to see that people receiving care in these facilities are safe and receive appropriate care. We make certain that medical buildings are built only when there is a need for them.
About the Acute and Home Care Licensure and Certification Section:
The Acute and Home Care Licensure and Certification Section oversees state‑licensed and federally certified health care providers to ensure they meet all regulatory requirements related to the quality of care delivered. The section’s regulatory scope covers a wide range of program areas, including clinical laboratories, acute care and psychiatric hospitals, nursing facility beds within hospitals, rural primary care hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, cardiac rehabilitation programs, abortion clinics, home care and home health agencies, hospice agencies, nursing pools, end stage renal disease facilities, rural health clinics, outpatient rehabilitation providers, comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facilities, and portable x‑ray suppliers. In support of this oversight, the section conducts surveys and complaint investigations to verify continued compliance with state and federal laws governing health care quality.
