Solenis is seeking a Regional Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our Corporate EHS team. Reporting to the Senior Regional EHS Manager – North America, this role provides strategic and operational leadership for EHS performance across assigned regions, including manufacturing facilities and field operations.
The Regional EHS Specialist role partners with site and business leaders to drive risk reduction, regulatory compliance, and a proactive safety culture. This position is responsible for deploying corporate EHS systems, ensuring consistent implementation of programs, and influencing continuous improvement in safety performance and environmental stewardship.
The Regional EHS specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and auditing EHS programs across multiple sites to effectively control risk and ensure compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOT, and environmental requirements).
This role provides expert guidance to all levels of management on EHS matters, including hazard identification, incident prevention, regulatory compliance, and performance analytics. This role also leads strategic initiatives to improve leading indicators, strengthen safety culture, and standardize best practices across the region.
Key Functions
Leadership & Strategy
Drive implementation and sustainment of the company’s EHS management systems, standards, and injury and illness prevention programs across the region.
Partner with operations leadership to integrate EHS into business processes, decision-making, and performance management.
Execute regional EHS strategy aligned with corporate objectives and risk profile.
Risk Management & Compliance
Support compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations (OSHA, DOT, environmental standards).
Maintain strong working knowledge of regulatory changes and assess organizational impact.
Act as primary regional liaison with regulatory agencies, as required.
Lead or support regulatory inspections, audits, and response to findings or citations.
Incident Prevention & Investigation
Lead investigations for serious incidents and high-potential events using structured root cause methodologies.
Ensure timely reporting, documentation, and communication of incidents and corrective actions.
Monitor and analyze incident trends to identify systemic risks and implement preventive measures.
Auditing & Continuous Improvement
Plan and execute corporate EHS audits across facilities (travel required).
Evaluate effectiveness of EHS programs and identify gaps in controls or implementation.
Drive closure of corrective and preventive actions, ensuring accountability and sustained improvement.
Training & Capability Development
Develop and deliver EHS training programs aligned with regulatory requirements and company standards.
Provide coaching and technical support to site leadership on hazard recognition, risk mitigation, and compliance.
Support the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure training effectiveness and compliance tracking.
Data, Analytics & Reporting
Analyze leading and lagging indicators to identify trends, prioritize risks, and guide decision-making.
Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with incident reduction and cost control objectives.
Culture & Engagement
Champion a proactive safety culture through leadership engagement and behavior-based safety initiatives.
Support development of employee recognition programs that reinforce safe behaviors.
Influence cross-functional teams to embed EHS ownership at all levels of the organization.
Operational Support & Integration
Support EHS due diligence and integration for acquisitions.
Coordinate with third-party vendors and consultants to support loss control and compliance initiatives.
Qualifications
Familiarity with Solenis business tools (SAP, Workday, Velocity EHS)
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related technical field is preferred
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status is preferred or ability to sit for exam or equivalent certification
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, developing and implementing safety programs across multiple sites/States in a corporate capacity, for regulatory compliance, standardization, loss reduction and safety culture improvement.
Knowledge of OSHA and DOT required.
Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
Experience with a Safety Management or Learning Systems required
Strong organization and analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate safety and regulatory information.
Excellent verbal, written and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
Work well independently and as part of a team, remotely or present, as needed.
