Job Description:

The Skilled Trades Recruiter seeks, interviews, and screens applicants to fill current and future job openings while actively promoting career opportunities within the organization. This role focuses on identifying and engaging new talent, building strong relationships with hiring teams, and managing the full recruitment cycle for skilled trades and related positions. The recruiter serves as a key partner to the business by understanding hiring needs, sourcing qualified candidates, and guiding them through the selection process.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with hiring managers to understand current and future hiring needs and broader business priorities.
  • Perform targeted searches for qualified candidates using computer databases, networking, internet recruiting resources, cold calling, media channels, and employee referrals.
  • Source and attract skilled trades and related talent through creative sourcing strategies and effective use of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and CRM tools.
  • Interview applicants to gather detailed information on work history, training, education, certifications, and job-related skills.
  • Assess candidates for role fit, cultural alignment, and long-term potential, and provide informed recommendations to hiring managers.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain accurate and organized employment records and candidate documentation within ATS and related systems.
  • Contact applicants to inform them of their status in the selection process, including employment possibilities, consideration, and final selection decisions.
  • Provide potential applicants with clear information about the organization’s facilities, operations, benefits, and job or career opportunities.
  • Manage multiple open requisitions simultaneously while prioritizing tasks and deadlines to meet hiring targets.
  • Leverage business relationship-building skills to maintain a strong pipeline of candidates and a positive candidate experience.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support personnel recruitment, selection, and training processes as needed.
  • Apply knowledge of legal policies and procedures related to hiring practices to help ensure compliant recruitment activities.
  • Utilize MS Office tools, including Word and Excel, and systems such as Workday HCM and ATS platforms to support day-to-day recruitment operations.
  • Continuously refine sourcing strategies and recruitment processes through creative problem-solving and data-driven insights.

Skills:

  • 2–4 years of experience in talent acquisition, recruitment, or full-cycle recruiting, preferably including skilled trades recruitment.
  • Proven experience managing the full recruitment cycle from sourcing through offer for a variety of roles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly present opportunities and expectations to candidates and stakeholders.
  • Effective negotiation skills to manage offers, expectations, and candidate acceptance.
  • Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills to build trust with candidates and hiring managers.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of legal policies and procedures related to hiring practices and other employment-related activities.
  • Basic knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, and training.
  • Basic understanding of business and management principles involved in strategic planning as they relate to workforce planning and recruitment.
  • Previous experience using computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Hands-on experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and CRM database management.
  • Experience with Workday HCM or similar HR information systems.
  • Demonstrated ability in candidate sourcing, including creative sourcing and technical recruitment.
  • Strong priority management and task prioritization skills to support multiple hiring needs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience in skilled trades recruitment and familiarity with trade-specific talent markets.
  • Experience in administrative organization and maintaining detailed recruitment documentation.
  • Proficiency in business relationship building with internal stakeholders and external talent pools.
  • Experience in candidate interviewing, both phone and in-person or virtual.
  • Creative problem-solving skills to develop innovative sourcing strategies and overcome hiring challenges.
  • Experience with full cycle recruiting across various role types and levels.
  • Comfort working with CRM databases and leveraging them to build and maintain talent pipelines.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and hiring priorities.

Work Environment:

The role involves extensive use of computer systems, including Applicant Tracking Systems, CRM platforms, Workday HCM, and MS Office applications such as Word and Excel. The position typically follows standard business hours, with some flexibility required to accommodate candidate schedules and urgent hiring needs. Work is primarily desk-based, involving frequent phone, video, and online communication with candidates and hiring managers. The dress code is generally professional or business casual, aligned with a corporate recruiting environment. Collaboration with hiring managers and HR colleagues is frequent, and the culture emphasizes responsiveness, organization, and a strong focus on candidate experience and continuous improvement in recruitment practices.

This is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
