The Proposal Manager leads and oversees the entire bid and proposal process for Pharmacy Benefit Management projects, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions. They are responsible for driving team development, managing project leads, and collaborating with subject matter experts to communicate the company's value proposition.
Summary
The Proposal Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the bid and proposal process for Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) bids, including accurate, timely, and competitive responses to Request for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and special projects for high-visibility, complex new sales and retention projects. The Proposal Manager will drive successful delivery of high-quality proposals in support of the company's aggressive growth goals. This position requires a proposal professional with diverse skills, including strategic leadership, project management, writing and editing, process management, and personnel oversight. This role supports growth and retention across all lines of business and interacts with business partners and subject matter experts from all areas of the company. The candidate must be able to adeptly maneuver between independent bid projects and team initiatives to provide strategic guidance, oversight, and direction. Proposal writing team will report to the Proposal Manager who will drive team development from onboarding of new team members to individual and team improvement planning. Responsibilities do not include content development or library maintenance, though support and coordination with these needs is required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Own and oversee a complete proposal development process and be accountable for the successful submission of all company proposals and bids as well as follow up and best and final offer responses
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of all proposals and relevant bid deliverables
Review incoming requests and assign project lead based on complexity, market knowledge, and resource availability
Lead daily touchpoints with the proposal and content teams providing strategic direction, escalation support, and guidance
Own and maintain all associated team tools to ensure efficient, accurate, and high-quality proposal outputs
Drive the development of compelling content focused on communicating our value proposition for each specific opportunity and provide input for other team members to improve in this area
Collaborate with cross-functional business partners and subject matter experts on various projects while developing individual and team-wide working relationships including fostering high-quality communication
Improve proposal responses by reviewing, evaluating, and directing the enhancement of boilerplate information to speak to specific opportunities to make sure strategic responses are provided, well-written, and effectively convey the WellDyne brand story and value proposition
Actively participate in all key and high-visibility proposal projects from initiation through completion
Possess an understanding of project management processes and procedures and adhere to strict deadlines
Lead onboarding and training of new and existing team members including development and maintenance of training plans
Manage dynamic ongoing team improvement projects based on key company initiatives, team insights, and strategic development plans

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, journalism, English, or another business-related field
Eight or more years as a Senior Proposal Writer
Required experience includes more than 5 years of experience with:
Proposal writing and project management (ownership of the full process, not individual components)
Pharmacy benefit management industry
Successful support and coordination with a content team
Development and maintenance of processes and documentation
Advanced Microsoft365 app skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills including grammar and punctuation
Demonstrated project management experience
Must have advanced attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Strong strategic understanding of pharmacy benefits and operations
Strong interpersonal relationships

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little supervision
Analytical ability to assess complex situations and exceptional creativity to provide solutions

Work Environment / Physical Demands
This position is remote but does require prolonged sitting in front of a computer. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment including operation of standard phone equipment.
