AI Summary

Lead the end-to-end vendor selection and implementation process for a new enterprise Project & Portfolio Management platform. Manage project plans, data migration, system integrations, and internal change management to ensure successful user adoption.

Our client, a large national accounting and advisory firm, is replacing its enterprise Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) platform. They need an experienced project manager to lead the effort from vendor selection through implementation. You'll help the firm's Enterprise PMO finalize a tool choice by December 2026, then lead implementation from January to a target go-live in March 2027. The role averages about 10 hours per week and flexes to 15–20 hours during peak periods. The flexible, part-time schedule suits an experienced practitioner looking for a meaningful engagement alongside other commitments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the PPM vendor selection process: refine requirements with the portfolio team, facilitate demos and scoring, and drive to a recommendation by December 2026.
  • Serve as an objective, vendor-neutral advisor, keeping the evaluation grounded in the firm's requirements.
  • Build and manage the implementation plan, schedule, risks/issues log, and status reporting from kickoff through go-live.
  • Coordinate with the selected vendor's implementation team and actively manage resource-availability risk against the timeline.
  • Partner with IT to plan the replacement of data pipelines and system integrations tied to the current platform.
  • Plan and oversee data migration from the legacy tool, including validation and cutover.
  • Lead internal change management and training for product line managers, PMO staff, project managers, and IT.
  • Run a separate workstream for a client-facing user group with a high-touch, white-glove approach.
  • Keep stakeholders, from PMO leadership to individual project managers, informed with clear, timely updates.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of project management experience.
  • Led at least one enterprise PPM tool implementation end to end.
  • Experience in a PMO leadership role, such as PMO manager, lead, or director.
  • Experience running a structured software evaluation: requirements gathering, vendor demos, and weighted scoring.
  • Experience coordinating system integrations and data migration with IT teams.
  • Track record driving user adoption and change management for a new enterprise tool.
  • Available roughly 10 hours per week (up to 15–20 in peak weeks) from November 1, 2026 through March 2027.

NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in professional services, accounting, or consulting firm environments.
  • Familiarity with enterprise PMO intake, governance, and portfolio prioritization processes.
  • PMP certification and/or a formal change management credential (e.g., Prosci).
  • Experience delivering alongside other large enterprise system rollouts.

TOOLS & ENVIRONMENT

  • Enterprise PPM platform (replacement to be selected as part of this engagement).
  • Standard collaboration and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft 365).

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
You treat internal stakeholders as clients, and responsiveness is second nature. You acknowledge requests within one business day, even when the answer is "I'll find out." You're a seasoned practitioner who can step into a part-time role and create momentum quickly. You bring structure while budget and priorities are still taking shape. You stay neutral during vendor selection and earn trust by being candid about tradeoffs. You're comfortable moving between PMO leadership, IT, and end users, and you know that a new tool succeeds only when people actually adopt it.

This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check. No screening will be initiated until an offer has been made. All background checks are consistent with federal and state laws and regulations including applicable second chance hiring laws.
