Opportunity
Edged US is seeking a Project Controls Manager- Portfolio Planning to support the development and construction of its rapidly growing hyperscale data center portfolio throughout North America. Reporting to the Portfolio Controls Director, this role serves as the enterprise lead for planning and scheduling, responsible for Primavera P6 administration, integrated master scheduling, portfolio schedule reporting, schedule governance, and executive forecasting across all development and construction projects.
The Portfolio Planning Manager will work across development, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness teams to establish schedule standards, consolidate project schedules into intelligent portfolio-level reporting, and provide leadership with accurate forecasts, milestone tracking, and schedule risk analysis.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned planning and scheduling professional with extensive Primavera P6 expertise and experience managing multiple large-scale capital programs simultaneously. This individual must be capable of translating complex project schedules into meaningful executive-level reporting and strategic planning insights.
This role is responsible for driving accountability across the organization for achieving critical development and execution milestones, ensuring projects maintain readiness for funding approvals, contract execution, permitting, utility commitments, and construction commencement.
Key Responsibilities
Development Planning & Portfolio Accountability
- Development Schedule Ownership: Develop and maintain project development schedules from site acquisition through construction commencement, ensuring all critical activities are identified, logically sequenced, and aligned with portfolio delivery objectives.
- Milestone Accountability: Establish, monitor, and drive accountability for key development, entitlement, permitting, utility, financing, procurement, and contractual milestones. Facilitate regular milestone reviews with stakeholders and proactively escalate risks that threaten scheduled commitments.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Work directly with Development, Legal, Finance, Real Estate, Design, Procurement, Utility, and Construction teams to ensure required activities are completed in support of portfolio schedules and project delivery commitments.
- Schedule Management & Escalation: Identify schedule risks, missed commitments, approval delays, and unresolved action items that threaten project objectives. Work with responsible stakeholders to drive resolution and escalate issues requiring leadership intervention.
Portfolio Planning & Schedule Governance
- Integrated Portfolio Scheduling: Develop, maintain, and oversee integrated portfolio schedules that consolidate project-level schedules into a single enterprise planning framework. Monitor portfolio milestones, energization targets, commissioning activities, lease obligations, customer commitments, and operational readiness milestones.
- Schedule Governance: Establish and enforce enterprise scheduling standards, procedures, coding structures, schedule specifications, update requirements, and reporting protocols. Conduct periodic schedule quality reviews and governance audits to ensure consistency and accuracy across all projects.
- Strategic Planning & Forecasting: Support executive leadership through long-range portfolio planning, scenario analysis, schedule forecasting, capacity planning, and strategic milestone management. Identify emerging delivery risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Schedule Analysis & Controls
- Schedule Reviews & Validation: Review contractor, consultant, and internal schedules for logic integrity, sequencing, critical path validity, float management, resource loading, and milestone compliance. Identify deficiencies and work with project teams to implement corrective actions.
- Risk & Recovery Analysis: Perform schedule health assessments, delay analyses, what-if scenarios, recovery planning evaluations, and predictive schedule forecasting. Evaluate impacts associated with procurement delays, utility constraints, permitting requirements, design development, change orders, and commissioning activities.
- Portfolio Schedule Intelligence: Monitor schedule performance across the portfolio and identify trends, recurring risks, and delivery challenges requiring executive attention. Develop recommendations to improve schedule reliability and project delivery performance.
Executive Reporting & Portfolio Analytics
- Executive Reporting: Prepare recurring portfolio schedule reports, milestone dashboards, executive presentations, and schedule performance metrics for senior leadership.
- KPI Development: Develop and maintain schedule performance indicators, forecasting tools, milestone tracking systems, and portfolio-level schedule analytics.
- Leadership Presentations: Present schedule forecasts, milestone achievement status, portfolio risks, and mitigation plans to executive leadership, project teams, and other stakeholders.
Skills & Requirements
Qualifications
- Between 10–15 years of planning, scheduling, or project controls experience supporting large-scale capital construction programs, including hyperscale, mission-critical, industrial, infrastructure, or energy projects.
- Demonstrated experience administering Primavera P6 in an enterprise environment supporting multiple concurrent projects.
- Extensive experience developing and managing integrated master schedules, portfolio-level planning systems, and development schedules from site acquisition through construction commencement.
- Advanced understanding of Critical Path Methodology (CPM), float analysis, schedule forecasting, schedule recovery planning, and risk analysis.
- Experience reviewing engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness schedules.
- Strong understanding of project controls principles including cost forecasting, risk management, change management, and performance reporting.
- Data center or mission-critical infrastructure experience strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- PSP, PMI-SP, PMP, CCM, or equivalent certification preferred.
Specific Skills / Abilities
- Expert-level proficiency with Primavera P6 and enterprise schedule administration.
- Strong analytical capabilities with experience interpreting and communicating complex schedule information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present schedule information to executive-level audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle planning from site acquisition through commissioning and operational readiness.
- Proven ability to influence project teams and drive adherence to portfolio standards and governance requirements.
