Description
The Kentucky Viral Disease Prevention and Services Branch is a great opportunity to improve the health of
Kentuckians. The Program Coordinator will be coordinating and monitoring a statewide HIV prevention program,
specifically focused on minority and faith-based initiatives. This role has the ability to make an impact by
preventing the spread of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) through education and resources, and in turn, help
the commonwealth advance toward the goal of ending the HIV epidemic.
This is a federally funded time-limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as
the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that
funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for
the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non-
merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit)
employee in a permanent position.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Coordinates and monitors State Prevention EHE program for priority populations on a statewide basis as
defined by the CDC.
Assesses contractors’ performance through records, reports, observations, quarterly reports and maintains
supporting documentation.
Ensures compliance with CDC evaluation guidance, HIV Prevention Plan, grants and contracts.
Provides technical assistance, training and capacity building for the implementation and changes of program
activities.
Coordinates HIV Awareness Day funding opportunities. Interacts with the public and serves as a principal
contact for the EHE program.
Supports community, local health departments and community-based organizations with implementation
of effective EHE behavioral, biomedical and social interventions sanctioned by CDC.
Requests data and prepares reports for HIV prevention management.
Enters data into CDC Evaluation Web and other electronic systems.
Coordinate informational campaigns for priority populations.
Reviews state and federal legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines pertinent to priority populations.
Coordinates priority population initiatives for workshops and conferences.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Three years of professional experience in management or administration.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Administrative or business experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.
