About the Role

Solace’s Professional Services team is looking for a dynamic and experienced technologist to perform as a
Professional Services Consultant. 



What You'll Do


A Consultant is responsible for the overall post-sales success of a customer, and will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in multiple areas including: networking, messaging, and middleware technologies. A successful candidate would be comfortable installing hardware in a data center, developing scripts to compare configurations or automate routine tasks, and writing integration code in Java or C#. In addition, significant work will be related to assisting customers in the monitoring and management of their estate of deployed Solace products including: troubleshooting, diagnostics and responding to alerts.


This position will require travel based on customer needs, sometimes globally.


Additionally, the consultant will be required to develop best practices documents or other documents for the customer to facilitate knowledge transfer and sharing. Documentation and communication skills must be exceptional, as well as the ability to manage customer expectations. PS resources are the face of Solace to the customer since they are generally with the customer for long periods of time, adding additional importance to the need for excellent communication skills.

Our customers expect our services team to be professional and capable of delivering solutions with little to no guidance, rather they look to us to be the leaders. Our Professional Services Group is made up of experienced and professional consultants with the attitude of being a team player, willing to dig in and do whatever is necessary to make the customer successful, and we want more of these types of individuals.


Desired Skills and Experience

  • Education - Undergraduate degree, ideally in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering; Masters in Science, Business, or Engineering an asset.
  • 5-10+ Years of Experience in application development, integration, or network operations support.
  • Messaging Middleware / Integration – Understanding of the application middleware space. Technical knowledge of messaging products such as IBM MQ, TIBCO EMS/RV/BW and/or Open Source messaging such as Rabbit, ActiveMQ, Kafka, etc. would be beneficial to the role. An understanding of SOA and JMS are essential and working knowledge of AMQP, REST, JavaScript, MQTT would all be assets.
  • Enterprise Integration Patterns and Solution Architecture - Any experience would be an asset.  Knowledge of Digital patterns, application lifecycle management, continuous integration.
  • Application development - Experience developing, integrating, and troubleshooting Java and/or C/C++/C# code is required. Any development experience using sockets, messaging APIs, multithreaded and distributed applications would be a plus.
  • Operations Support – Experience providing application or hardware support is desired. Some experience troubleshooting technical issues, including application deadlock, thread issues, and configuration errors, is expected. Also beneficial to have experience configuring alerts and thresholds for either application monitoring or hardware monitoring.
  • PaaS - Working experience with Technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, PaaS platforms.
  • Networking – Good knowledge of network layers and topologies as well as general understanding of routers, switches, gateways, and other networking gear and how they impact performance is preferable. Ability to understand throughput and latency, and explain these concepts and how they impact messaging middleware performance is desired.
