What You’ll Do

As an E-Invoicing & Live Reporting (ELR) Product Solution Engineering Manager, you will help lead Avalara's EMEA Product Solution Engineering function for ELR.

 

You will manage the ELR Product Solution Engineers, being their primary contact, coach, and escalation route, while continuing to support selected customer opportunities, particularly strategic and complex deals.

 

This is a player manager role that combines people leadership, commercial support, product expertise, and cross functional influence. You will work closely with various teams, including Sales, Product, Engineering, Partner, Business Development, Compliance, and Delivery teams. These collaborations will ensure Avalara's ELR solutions are positioned effectively, demoed confidently, and continuously improved in line with customer, market, and regulatory needs.

 

Reporting to the Director of Product Solution Engineering in EMEA, you will help ensure consistent processes, team alignment, and continued excellence across the presales motion.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

  • You will manage, coach, and support the ELR Product Solution Engineering team, being their main contact for guidance, deal support, prioritisation, and escalation.
  • You will lead one-to-ones, performance conversations, year-end reviews, career coaching, and development planning to support individual growth and team effectiveness.
  • Operate as a player manager, supporting selected strategic, complex, or high value sales opportunities where senior product and regulatory expertise is required.
  • Partner with Sales leadership, account teams, Partner, and Business Development teams to support new business, expansion, strategic opportunities, and partner led activity.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Avalara's ELR products, technical capabilities, regulatory coverage, connectors, and integration options throughout the sales cycle.
  • Work with Product and Engineering to capture field feedback, represent customer needs, remove blockers, and help prioritise roadmap items based on commercial impact, market demand, and regulatory urgency.
  • Collaborate with Partner and Business Development teams to stay aligned on connector changes, partner capabilities, and access to key connectors for demos, testing, and solution understanding.
  • Lead product demonstrations, solution consultations, strategic workshops, customer meetings, partner engagements, and industry events.
  • Maintain an understanding of Avalara's ELR products, roadmap, connector strategy, regulatory changes, market trends, and competitor activity.
  • Enable the ELR PSE team, Sales teams, partners, and wider company partners with the knowledge and tools required to position Avalara's solutions effectively.
  • Work with the Director of Product Solution Engineering in EMEA to ensure team priorities, reporting, processes, and ways of working align with the wider PSE strategy.

What You'll Need to be Successful

  • Experience managing presales, solution consulting, product specialist, or solution engineering teams.
  • Experience in SaaS presales, consulting, solution implementation, or product specialist roles, within tax technology, finance technology, compliance, ERP, or ELR.
  • Strong domain knowledge of E-invoicing, including regulatory frameworks, compliance models, technical architectures, and customer implementation considerations.
  • We prefer additional VAT knowledge and experience.
  • Experience working with major ERP, ecommerce, and billing platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, NetSuite, and other enterprise systems.
  • Experience with integrations, connectors, APIs, middleware, and data flows relevant to ELR and tax compliance solutions.
  • Manage and prioritise team activity across sales cycles, internal initiatives, product requests, and strategic projects.
  • Experience communicating complex technical, regulatory, and commercial concepts to technical and non technical stakeholders.
  • Confidence engaging senior stakeholders, including finance, tax, IT leadership, partners, and C suite executives.
