  • Facilitate backlog refinement to ensure stories are sized appropriately, testable, and ready for sprint planning (including clear acceptance criteria, business rules, regulatory/compliance considerations, and non-functional requirements such as security and availability).
  • Own the sprint backlog by defining priorities, clarifying scope, and making tradeoff decisions with the delivery team to meet agreed outcomes for UM capabilities and client commitments.
  • Serve as product and domain SME for UM applications across Product, Engineering, Clinical, Operations, Implementation, and Client Success teams.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative insights (production metrics, user feedback, operational reviews, and client feedback) to identify opportunities, validate impact, and inform backlog priorities.
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience required. Agile/Scrum training or certifications preferred.
  • Typical years of experience are 2–4 years in product management, business analysis, product ownership, and/or software product development. Some incumbents may gain these skills or capabilities in other ways and must be demonstrated.
  • Experience delivering workflow-based enterprise applications in an Agile environment required.
  • Prior experience with utilization management, prior authorization, care management operations, or payer/provider clinical operations preferred; healthcare regulatory/compliance exposure (e.g., URAC/NCQA-aligned processes) a plus.
  • Must possess servant leadership qualities, including empowering teams, fostering collaboration, and influencing through clear communication and stewardship.
  • Strong ability to translate strategy into executable backlog, write clear and testable requirements (including workflow states, decision logic, and data requirements), facilitate stakeholder alignment across clinical and operational groups, and make prioritization decisions using data and user insights.
  • Demonstrated comfort working with regulated processes and sensitive health information.
  • Systems/Tools: MS Office Suite and general execution and delivery systems and collaboration tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Visio/Miro, etc.). Familiarity with workflow management, rules/configuration, reporting/analytics, and healthcare data concepts is preferred.
