What You Will Do

Luminultra is recruiting a Product Designer (UX/UI) to join our growing Product Management team. This position offers a base salary range of $65,000-85,000 CAD depending on experience.

As our Product Designer (UX/UI), you will own the user experience for Relay, Luminultra's customer-facing software platform, while helping shape the future of our digital product ecosystem. Working alongside Product Management, Software, Client Experience, Marketing, and technical experts, you'll transform complex scientific workflows into intuitive, implementation-ready digital experiences that deliver meaningful value to users.

As Luminultra’s primary Product Designer, you will have the opportunity to establish scalable design systems and UX standards, influence product experiences through customer insights and usability testing, and help shape how design evolves across our growing product portfolio. While your primary focus will be digital product design, you’ll also support customer-facing documentation and product labels to create a seamless end-to-end customer experience. Product Management defines product priorities and user outcomes, while you own the detailed user experience, design systems, and day-to-day design execution.

As the Product Designer (UX/UI), you will support key organizational objectives and have key responsibilities such as:

  • Own the end-to-end user experience for Relay, translating product goals and customer needs into intuitive workflows, prototypes, and implementation-ready digital product designs that deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Partner closely with Product Management and Software teams throughout refinement, development, implementation, and design reviews to ensure design intent is effectively translated into high-quality product experiences.
  • Establish and evolve scalable design systems, reusable UI components, interaction patterns, UX writing standards, and accessibility best practices that improve consistency across Luminultra's digital products.
  • Lead customer onboarding and experience improvements by owning Userflow experiences, in-product guidance, and leveraging user feedback, usability testing, and product insights to continuously enhance adoption and usability.
  • Design and maintain customer-facing documentation and product labels, improving information architecture, layout, imagery, HTML, and written content to make complex technical information clear, accessible, and easy to use.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Quality, Compliance, Operations, and technical experts, to ensure product documentation, labels, and user-facing materials are accurate, consistent, and aligned with business requirements.
  • Contribute to the evolution of Luminultra's digital product portfolio, including Relay, Bugcount Analyzer, Guardian interfaces, customer-facing Power BI reports, and future digital and physical product experiences.
  • Balance customer needs, design quality, technical constraints, and business priorities while documenting product design knowledge, standards, and best practices that support scalable product development.

Who You Are

You're a thoughtful, customer-focused designer who enjoys solving complex problems and creating intuitive experiences within a collaborative, cross-functional environment. You are comfortable working independently, managing priorities, and partnering with technical teams to bring ideas from concept through implementation.

Additionally, you bring skills and experience such as:

  • 4+ years of professional experience in product design, UX/UI design, interaction design, or a closely related field, including experience delivering shipped digital products.
  • Post-secondary education in product design, interaction design, UX/UI, human-computer interaction, graphic design, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of practical experience and training.
  • Strong product design, interaction design, and visual design skills, including information architecture, UX writing, typography, layout, hierarchy, and accessibility.
  • Experience collaborating directly with developers and technical teams through product implementation.
  • Experience creating or maintaining design systems, reusable standards, and scalable design practices.
  • The ability to simplify complex technical information and create clear, user-friendly experiences.
  • Experience using user feedback, usability testing, or product insights to improve digital experiences.
  • A practical, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to balance ideal design outcomes with technical realities and business priorities.
  • Experience designing complex digital products, SaaS applications, or enterprise software.

Additional experience with the following would be considered an asset:
