A Day in the Life:
The principal solutions architect proactively and holistically leads and supports EA activities that guide the development and management of a portfolio of solutions. Solutions include projects, systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information), shared infrastructure services and shared application services.
They understand the concepts of business goals, objectives and business outcomes, business capabilities, value-streams, and business processes and their importance in solution architecture. The solutions architect provides the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks related to support the development of technology solutions to ensure that solutions meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards. They create deliverables for managing the organization's portfolio of "to be" and "as is" solutions — including systems (applications, processes, information and technology), shared infrastructure services, and shared application services and components to enable and drive targeted business outcomes.
The focus of the Solution Architect is on which applications to modify or build and how they integrate with each other. They will outline the overall integration patterns as well as define the integration specifications.
What Will you do:
- Lead enterprise solution architecture by translating business strategies and technical requirements into scalable, secure, and future-ready technology blueprints that drive business outcomes.
- Partner with business leaders, product owners, and engineering teams to define architecture roadmaps, ensure strategic alignment, and support long-term product and platform evolution.
- Design end-to-end solutions across applications, infrastructure, data, integrations, and processes while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and best practices.
- Drive technology modernization initiatives by identifying technical debt, legacy system constraints, architectural gaps, and opportunities for cloud, platform, and process transformation.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, market trends, and vendor solutions to recommend innovative capabilities that enhance business agility, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage.
- Provide architectural leadership and governance through reference architectures, standards, design patterns, and solution reviews to ensure compliance, quality, and consistency across the technology landscape.
- Lead architecture efforts for complex, cross-functional programs and products, guiding solution design decisions and supporting delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop current-to-future state transformation roadmaps that enable business capability growth while optimizing application portfolios, technology investments, and operational models.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and consultant to executives, product teams, architects, and technology partners, influencing strategic decisions and ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives.
- Champion architecture excellence and continuous improvement by fostering communities of practice, mentoring architects, and promoting best practices across agile delivery organizations.
What We're Looking For:
- 15+ years of progressive experience across enterprise architecture, application development, cloud platforms, infrastructure, networking, integration, and data management, delivering large-scale business-critical solutions.
- Proven ability to define and execute enterprise architecture strategies, target-state roadmaps, and technology blueprints that align technology investments with business objectives.
- Deep expertise in cloud-native and distributed architectures, leveraging technologies such as Azure, Java, .NET, Python, microservices, APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and modern integration platforms.
- Strong understanding of emerging technologies and industry trends, with the ability to evaluate, recommend, and implement innovative solutions that drive business transformation and operational efficiency.
- Extensive experience leading Agile, DevOps, and product-centric delivery teams, providing architectural governance while balancing innovation, scalability, security, and technical debt management.
- Expertise in enterprise architecture disciplines, including application architecture, integration architecture, data architecture, infrastructure, networking, security, ITSM/ITIL, and technology governance frameworks.
- Demonstrated success partnering with senior executives, business leaders, and engineering teams, translating strategic business capabilities into scalable technical solutions and investment roadmaps.
- Strong financial acumen, including solution business case development, cost optimization, technology investment planning, vendor evaluation, and ROI/TCO analysis.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decisions, lead cross-functional teams, and clearly articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Recognized thought leader and trusted advisor, capable of navigating complex organizations, driving consensus, fostering innovation, and delivering long-term business outcomes in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
