The Azure Networking team continues to innovate across the network stack, pushing new scale and features into the cloud while transforming our datacenter infrastructure to meet the growing needs of 200-plus Microsoft online services, including Copilot, Teams, GitHub, Office 365, SharePoint, Bing and several hundred thousand customers using Azure to host and run their Cloud Services in hundreds of datacenters, running millions of servers and edge computing nodes all over the world.

We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to work on highly visible projects in the networking area that would shape the future of our network. You will be working on introducing new technologies for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Networking, health of the network to ensure extremely high availability and reliability of the cloud, building services to manage the hyper scale network. You will also be working on a new tech roadmap, talking to customers about their requirements and leading the infrastructure evolution. You will accelerate your career path by working on critical services supporting hyper scale cloud. You also have opportunities to develop deep business acumen through talking to customers in order to understand their pain points and reequipments.

Responsibilities
  • You will identify unknown or unmet customer needs within multiple feature areas. You’ll then clarify any patterns of root problems and define solution options for those feature areas.
  • You will drive business impact across the organization and track success criteria for multiple feature areas.
  • You’ll also identify long-term investment opportunities and engage partners to garner support for those feature areas.
  • You will help define a feature set and facilitate mid-level usability reviews with customers. You’ll own the roadmap for multiple feature areas, and will collaborate with a partner team to build golden configurations and drive scenario walkthroughs.
  • You will scale Product Marketing teams by helping build marketing, roll-out, and customer support plans. You’ll also promote the feature areas you worked on and present at large events.
  • You will partner with others to collect performance metrics and form hypotheses for complex technical needs in order to improve product development in targeted areas. You’ll also identify features to deprecate, manage customer communities, and build trust with targeted customers.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years of experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of strategic planning/product development/business analysis
    • OR equivalent shipping service experience.
  • 3+ years deep networking experience and cloud technology.
  • 5 years experience in: 
    • Solving complex analytical and technical problems with strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
    • Thriving in fast-paced, dynamic environments with evolving requirements.
    • Making pragmatic business and engineering tradeoffs to deliver measurable value.
    • Leading customer, partner, and executive engagements.
  • 4+ years of Cloud and Networking experience.
  • Experience in planning and executing on complex multi cycle initiatives.


Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800.00 - $274,800.00 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000.00 - $304,200.00 per year.
