We're partnering with a defense technology company to find a skilled Principal Platform AI Engineer. This remote--within region--temporary-to-permanent role involves building and operating advanced AI platforms in a controlled environment. The application deadline for this role is 10/15/2026. *Principal Platform AI Engineer* *Responsibilities*: * Develop core platform services, shared libraries, and APIs with comprehensive testing, documentation, and operational support. * Deploy and optimize open-weight and sovereign AI models, managing inference performance through quantization, GPU utilization, and model selection. * Create AI-assisted coding tools, including code retrieval, IDE integration, and workflows for environments without commercial cloud access. * Build connectors linking internal systems via schemas, authentication, and error handling to ensure resilient operations. * Convert prototypes into reliable, observable, and cost-effective production systems while supporting engineering teams through design reviews and mentorship. *Principal Platform AI Engineer* *Qualifications*: * BS + 8 years, MS + 5 years, or PhD + 3 years of relevant experience in engineering. * Extensive hands-on experience with Python and at least one of Go, Rust, or TypeScript. * Proven success deploying and managing open-weight models in self-managed environments. * Experience developing AI coding or developer tooling with large language models, including retrieval, context handling, and toolchain integration. * Familiarity with systems integration involving APIs, event streams, data pipelines, and identity management. *Perks and Benefits:* * Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance. * Life Insurance. * 401(k) Program. * Commuter Benefit. * eLearning and Ongoing Training. * Education Reimbursement.
