ALL4 is looking for a Principal in the Chicago, IL area to grow ALL4's presence and team in the Midwest Region. The Principal is leader and industry authority responsible for guiding the company's growth, ensuring technical excellence, and strengthening client and market presence. The Principal will lead their client portfolios ensuring quality delivery to those clients, growing their portfolio, developing staff, and contributing to the overall strategy and culture of the company. This individual has an ownership mentality and proactively identifies strategic needs, build plans to address them, and drives those plans to completion. While this role will initially be performed remotely, the intention is for the Principal to lead and open an ALL4 office in the Chicago, IL metro area.

 

Once established the Chicago office will serve the Midwest region leveraging established anchor client relationships, creating an immediate foundation from which to grow. This office will lean on legacy ALL4 business units composed of environmental professionals well-versed in complex permitting, compliance, modeling, and multimedia EHS projects to establish and grow the Chicago office business operations.

  

Duties and Responsibilities:


Business Development & Market Leadership

  • Lead development and execution of strategies to grow client portfolios, drive ALL4’s expansion in their areas of expertise, and generate revenue in sectors, service lines, and geographies.
  • Maintain and expand executive-level relationships with key clients; anticipate and respond to client needs proactively.
  • Maintain a client portfolio with a minimum of $2MM in annual net revenue with an appropriate ramp up period to reach this threshold. A Principal will have a demonstrated long-term history of maintaining a client portfolio of this size as the leader and primary client point of contact.
  • Identify, pursue, and close major project opportunities, often in collaboration with other Principals, Practice Directors, and Regional Directors.
  • Demonstrate the ability to proactively pivot to new sectors and client types to sustain and grow business and prevent backsliding on client portfolio growth.
  • Represent ALL4 as a thought leader at national industry forums, regulatory stakeholder groups, and professional organizations.
  • Guide and mentor colleagues to increase their involvement in external groups, further developing the broader team's visibility.

Project & Technical Excellence

  • Oversee the client portfolio to ensure quality, technical rigor, profitability, and timely delivery, including for high visibility or high-risk projects.
  • Provide technical direction, review, and risk management for projects led by others.
  • Act as an escalation point for project managers when critical challenges arise.
  • Monitor environmental regulations, policy developments, and industry trends to ensure the company remains current and competitive
  • Review and sign contracts; advocate for ALL4's financial and technical interests in that process.

People & Team Development

  • Actively mentor senior consultants, project managers, and junior staff to build leadership capacity and technical depth.
  • Take responsibility for direct reports, including performance management, full-cycle coordination, compensation discussions, and personnel decisions in collaboration with Directors and Business Unit Leaders.
  • Identify strategic hiring needs tied to portfolio growth and the recruitment of senior-level talent.
  • Model and reinforce ALL4's core values and desired leadership traits through visible day-to-day leadership.
  • Promote staff engagement and retention through active career pathing and recognition.

Leadership & Company Contribution

  • Contribute to corporate strategy and decision-making as a member of the senior leadership team.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with other Principals on shared client opportunities and strategic accounts; assign credit and revenue attribution in a spirit of collaboration.
  • Drive initiatives that improve operational efficiency, knowledge sharing, and cross-team innovation.
  • Monitor business performance (utilization, net revenue, profitability) and contribute to financial goals at the firm level.
  • Promote all company strategic objectives across their area of influence.
  • Establish annual goals around external visibility and sector/stakeholder group engagement to further ALL4’s brand recognition.

Key Measures of Success

  • Revenue growth and profitability of assigned client portfolio and practice areas.
  • Achievement of net revenue target ($2MM minimum) and annual sales target (1.3x net revenue goal) within two years of employment.
  • Retention, growth, and satisfaction of key clients and successful delivery of major projects with minimal escalation.
  • Development and promotion of next-generation leaders within the team.
  • Active and measurable external visibility at national, industry, or stakeholder group levels.
  • Meaningful contribution to company-wide strategy and leadership initiatives.


Requirements

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of environmental industry experience with demonstrated senior-level leadership. 
  • Proven record of business development success, independent client generation, and client portfolio management.
  • Recognized subject matter expert in one or more practice areas relevant to ALL4's service offerings.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage organizational change, and influence outcomes at the executive level.
  • History of involvement and technical presentations at industry stakeholder groups.
  • Track record of developing direct reports and improving team utilization and growth trajectories.
  • Strong commitment to advancing the company's mission, values, and long-term success.
