Eaton’s Electrical Services & Systems division is currently seeking a Power Systems Controls Application Engineer.
This position is fully remote for candidates residing within the U.S. West Region: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
The Power Systems Controls Application Engineer will collaborate with Eaton’s construction sales and field services sales teams to provide customers with automation solutions contained in Eaton switchgear. This role is responsible for driving growth of the PSC business by developing technical solutions, cost estimates, and detailed proposals for automatic transfer schemes, generator paralleling controls, load shed, and MicroGrid applications (Battery Energy Storage Systems and Photo Voltaic Systems).
The expected annual salary range for this role is $97,000 - $137,000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

The Power Systems Controls (PSC) group is a full-service automation team with expertise in the design, engineering, and commissioning of automation solutions for commercial, industrial, and utility power systems. Our team of engineers and technicians supports a wide range of power system applications, delivering innovative control solutions that help our customers improve reliability, efficiency, and operational performance.
We are seeking a self-motivated engineer who thrives on technical problem-solving and can effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role requires balancing simultaneous requests from sales engineers, customers, and other stakeholders while developing technical and commercial solutions that drive business growth. Strong commercial acumen, technical expertise, and organizational skills are critical to success.
Because much of the work is performed through remote collaboration with customers, sales teams, and internal partners, the ideal candidate will be a proactive communicator who can build relationships, influence decisions, and navigate a highly collaborative organization.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred) OR, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 7 years of hands-on field service, project management, and/or proposal generation experience related to maintaining and modernizing electrical power distribution systems
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical industry application engineering, proposal development, project engineering, and programming related to power system applications
- Must currently reside within Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming
Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%, primarily within the U.S. West Region
- Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license
- Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future. - Successfully complete and maintain compliance with Eaton’s safety program and policy; This includes role-applicable portions of the EESS Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) program and any required annual re-certifications thereafter
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration
- Knowledge of Eaton's organizational structure and experience collaborating on cross-functional projects with multiple Eaton departments and business units
- Strong knowledge of automation and power management systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), remote terminal units (RTUs), human-machine interface (HMI) software, multifunction protective relays, and relay-based monitoring and control systems
- Strong understanding of multi-source and paralleling switchgear controls, power system automation, and associated engineering best practices
- Familiarity with Eaton and competitor automation products, systems, and services
- Strong computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications used for engineering, proposal development, project execution, and reporting
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to automation and power systems
- Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships, represent company interests, and deliver exceptional customer service
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, administrative responsibilities, and stakeholder deadlines

- This role is designated as a Regular Driver per Eaton’s Driver Safety Policy and requires a current, unrestricted driver’s license along with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record. Candidates will be subject to a motor vehicle record check upon hire
