Fall Internship Opportunity: Policymaker Relations Intern (Part-Time)

Remote | 20 hours/week | Fall 2026 | $25/hour

We are seeking a Policymaker Relations Intern for Fall 2026 to support our work in providing policymakers with the tools and resources needed to win better mental health policy. This includes supporting the Champion Success program, state mental health caucus efforts, Policy Academy and Policy Academy On the Road events, and research and rollout of Inseparable reports. Reporting directly to our Policymaker Relations Coordinator, this internship offers a hands-on opportunity for a college student eager to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of public engagement, mental health advocacy, and policy strategy. 

Responsibilities: 

State Mental Health Caucus 

  • Identify and vet potential caucus members through media alerts, legislative updates, and news articles 
  • Track caucus membership in Quorum to maintain an updated roster and dashboard, and ensure any changes are reflected accurately on the website 
  • Track and report caucus member election results 

Champion Success 

  • Manage policymaker data in Quorum, including tracking Champion interactions, updating categorization, and adding notes to official profiles 
  • Conduct research and gather data on Champions as needed 
  • Pull strategic lists and engagement data to support advocacy efforts 

Policymaker Communications

  • Draft monthly “Champion Spotlight” posts for social media using existing templates and maintain a content bank of policymakers to uplift on socials 
  • Assist with content curation for monthly policymaker communications
  • Track performance metrics for policymaker outreach
  • Draft and distribute weekly internal update on relevant policymaker activities 

Policy Academy / Policy Academy “On the Road”

  • Assist in preparing participant materials for the September Policy Academy 
  • Provide support for event logistics and planning as needed 

Other

  • Support research for and rollout of upcoming Access Report
  • Support champion cultivation in expansion and opportunity states through policymaker research and legislative landscapes
  • Assist with conference preparation and follow-up

Qualifications: 

  • Attention to detail with strong organizational, communication, research and writing skills 
  • Academic or professional experience in public policy, political science, communications, or related fields 
  • Interest in mental health advocacy and legislative engagement 
  • Experience with Google Sheets, Canva, and/or Quorum is preferred
