You’ll likely be an established PMO, programme or project delivery professional who enjoys bringing structure to busy environments but also wants the opportunity to influence how things are done.
You’ll be comfortable working with project managers, technical teams, workstream leads and senior stakeholders, and confident enough to ask questions, challenge constructively and make sure actions, risks and dependencies are properly followed through.
You’ll understand that different teams may use different delivery methodologies and will be comfortable working alongside Agile teams, helping connect their delivery activity into the wider programme and portfolio view without imposing unnecessary process.
You’ll also be pragmatic. We want consistent governance and good project controls, but not unnecessary bureaucracy.
You won’t be expected to arrive and build a PMO completely from scratch. Instead, we want someone who can operate the framework effectively, identify where it could work better and bring relevant ideas and experience from other environments.
We’re looking for an experienced PMO & Delivery Analyst to play a key role in improving how projects are governed, reported and delivered across the organisation.
We are currently introducing a more consistent project framework across the business, covering areas such as governance, reporting, RAID management, resource forecasting and portfolio visibility.
The framework itself will be in place, but it will still be relatively new. We therefore want someone who can take ownership of running it day-to-day, help embed it across project teams and bring ideas on how it can be improved as our delivery capability matures.
We are currently consolidating a number of smaller workstreams and project activities into fewer, larger programmes where we can apply a more consistent approach to governance, reporting and project controls.
Our delivery environment includes teams and projects working in different ways, including Agile delivery. An important part of the role will therefore be helping ensure projects delivered through Agile ways of working are effectively coordinated into wider programme governance, reporting, dependencies and portfolio oversight.
This isn’t a traditional PMO role focused solely on administration and reporting. Alongside portfolio oversight and governance, you’ll also have the opportunity to take on direct delivery responsibility.
The role is expected to be approximately 70% PMO and portfolio activity and 30% project delivery, making it well suited to an established PMO professional who wants greater ownership, visibility and the opportunity to develop further delivery experience.
We’re more interested in the relevance and quality of your experience than prescribing a specific number of years.
You should have demonstrable experience working within a:
You should have practical experience of supporting or operating project governance and controls, rather than solely providing administrative project support.
You should also have experience or a good working familiarity with Agile ways of working, and understand how Agile-delivered projects can be coordinated within wider programme governance, reporting and portfolio controls.
Previous experience improving an existing PMO framework, standardising project processes or taking ownership of smaller projects would be particularly relevant.
Working closely with the Technical Programme Director and stakeholders across the organisation, you will:
Success in this role is about creating greater visibility, consistency and confidence across our project portfolio.
Over time, we would expect you to help us:
This is an opportunity to join at a point where you can genuinely influence how our PMO and programme delivery capability develops.
You won’t be joining a large, established function where every process has already been set in stone. We’ll have the core framework in place, but we want the person in this role to help make it work effectively in practice and challenge or improve it where appropriate.
You’ll have visibility across a broad range of projects, work with stakeholders across the organisation and combine portfolio-level oversight with hands-on delivery experience.
There is also genuine scope for the role to develop as the business grows.
For the right person, that could ultimately mean progressing further into Project or Programme Management, or developing towards a future PMO Lead / Head of PMO position.
Requirements
Nice to Have
It would be useful, but not essential, if you have:
Formal qualifications are not essential. Relevant practical experience and your ability to operate effectively in the role are more important to us.
If you’re an experienced PMO or programme professional looking for greater ownership, more visibility and the opportunity to combine governance with hands-on delivery, we’d be interested in hearing from you.
This could be a particularly strong next step for someone who has built solid PMO experience and now wants the opportunity to influence how a function develops while creating a pathway towards either project delivery or future PMO leadership.
