Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced pharmacy technician to join our team in a remote, project-focused role. This position is ideal for someone who wants to apply their pharmacy knowledge beyond traditional prescription processing and dispensing responsibilities.

The Pharmacy Technician - Project Management position will use firsthand knowledge of pharmacy workflows, systems, terminology, and day-to-day challenges to support operational initiatives and manage projects from planning through completion. Experience working in an independent pharmacy is strongly preferred, as this role requires a practical understanding of the unique needs, processes, and priorities of community-based pharmacy operations.

This is not a traditional dispensing role. The successful candidate will serve as a pharmacy subject-matter expert, project coordinator, and liaison between internal teams, pharmacy partners, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage pharmacy-related projects from initiation through completion.
  • Apply pharmacy technician experience to identify workflow challenges, operational gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on pharmacy operations, prescription workflows, terminology, and common pharmacy systems.
  • Gather project requirements and translate pharmacy needs into clear action plans, processes, and deliverables.
  • Develop project timelines, track milestones, document progress, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate meetings, follow up on action items, and maintain clear communication among project stakeholders.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of pharmacy workflows, standard operating procedures, training materials, and operational resources.
  • Review processes and materials for accuracy, practicality, and alignment with real-world pharmacy operations.
  • Support pharmacy onboarding, implementation, training, or process-improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Identify project risks, delays, and operational concerns and communicate them to the appropriate team members.
  • Maintain organized project documentation, reports, meeting notes, and status updates.
  • Build productive relationships with independent pharmacy owners, pharmacists, technicians, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities in a remote work environment.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as a pharmacy technician.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy terminology, prescription workflows, and day-to-day pharmacy operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize projects, manage deadlines, and follow assignments through to completion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Ability to identify operational problems and recommend practical solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both pharmacy professionals and non-pharmacy stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and remain accountable in a remote environment.
  • Comfortable using video conferencing, email, spreadsheets, project-management platforms, and other cloud-based tools.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an independent or community pharmacy.
  • National pharmacy technician certification, such as CPhT.
  • Current or previous state pharmacy technician registration or license, where applicable.
  • Experience coordinating projects, implementations, training programs, pharmacy onboarding, or process-improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy management systems, third-party billing, inventory processes, insurance adjudication, prior authorizations, medication synchronization, or adherence programs.
  • Experience creating standard operating procedures, workflow documentation, training materials, or project reports.
  • Familiarity with project-management tools such as Asana, Monday.com, Smartsheet, Trello, ClickUp, or similar platforms.
