Overnight Telepsychiatry PMHNP (7-on / 7-off)

We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our clinical team in an overnight, fully remote telepsychiatry role supporting University of Maryland Capital Region Health facilities.

Role Overview

In this role, you will provide virtual psychiatric consults for emergency departments and offer cross-coverage for inpatient behavioral health units.

• Work Model: Fully Virtual ("camera-on" for ED consults; telephone-only for routine on-call requests).
• Schedule: 7-on / 7-off block scheduling | 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM.
• EMR System: Epic.
• Patient Volume: Average of 3–5 telepsychiatry consults per night.

Key Responsibilities

• ED Consultations: Conduct prompt, comprehensive, virtual psychiatric evaluations for emergency department patients across covered UMCRH sites.
• Care Coordination & Disposition: Determine appropriate level of care (inpatient admission vs. safe ED discharge) and coordinate treatment plans directly with requesting ED providers.
• Paperwork & Admission Orders: Complete voluntary and involuntary commitment paperwork in conjunction with ED providers, and enter initial admission orders for patients entering the inpatient unit at Capital Region Medical Center.
• Inpatient Unit Cross-Coverage: Serve as the initial point of contact for secure text messages and nursing requests (including medication orders) for the inpatient behavioral health unit at CRMC.
• Multi-Specialty Collaboration: Partner with Hospital Medicine and other specialties as needed to manage complex patient care.
• Performance Metrics: Maintain high standards for clinical turnaround times and clinical documentation in Epic.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual Salary: $140,160 paid biweekly ($768 per night shift).

Qualifications

• Active Maryland state PMHNP license in good standing.
• Comfort and proficiency with EMR systems (Epic experience highly preferred) and telehealth platforms.
• Strong decision-making skills in high-acuity emergency and inpatient psychiatric settings.
