Senior Manufacturing Test Systems & Supplier Quality Engineer (Remote)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, test systems development, supplier quality, or production support within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing test methodologies, validation processes, and production qualification requirements.
  • Proficiency with test equipment, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and automated test systems.
  • Experience developing test specifications, test plans, FAT/SAT protocols, validation reports, and manufacturing process documentation.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and methodologies including ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control (SPC), PFMEA, DFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Experience managing supplier quality activities including audits, corrective actions, process qualifications, PPAP, APQP, and supplier development initiatives.
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills utilizing methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone, Pareto Analysis, 5-Why, and Failure Analysis.
  • Experience with manufacturing data analysis using tools such as Python, SQL, Power BI, Excel, Minitab, JMP, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, supply chain, and supplier organizations.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to drive projects independently and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of industrial automation, robotics, electromechanical systems, sensors, motion control, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience supporting global manufacturing operations and contract manufacturers is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), ERP, MES, and Quality Management Systems (QMS) is preferred.
  • ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, CRE), Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, or equivalent quality certifications are considered a plus.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Hands-on role requiring strong technical leadership and active engagement in manufacturing, test systems, and supplier quality activities.
    • Support and/or develop the design, development, deployment, and continuous improvement of manufacturing and service test systems for robotic and electromechanical products.
    • Define and/or support manufacturing test strategies, test coverage requirements, acceptance criteria, and validation methodologies to ensure product quality and reliability.
    • Support and/or develop and maintain manufacturing test specifications, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.
    • Collaborate with Design Engineering, Systems Engineering, Firmware, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Service teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability and testability.
    • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities including prototype builds, pilot builds, production launches, and manufacturing transfers.
    • Lead supplier quality initiatives including supplier assessments, process audits, corrective action management, qualification activities, and continuous improvement projects.
    • Drive root cause investigations for production, field, supplier, and test-related failures, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
    • Analyze manufacturing and supplier quality data to identify trends, improve yields, reduce escapes, and enhance process capability.
    • Establish and monitor KPIs including First Pass Yield (FPY), Defect Rates, Test Coverage, Supplier PPM, Cost of Quality, and Corrective Action Effectiveness.
    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to manufacturing engineers, technicians, quality engineers, and supplier quality personnel.
    • Partner with contract manufacturers and suppliers to ensure manufacturing readiness, process capability, and quality compliance during production ramps.
    • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Service Validation Testing, and production qualification activities.
    • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, customer requirements, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
    • Travel as required to supplier locations and manufacturing sites for qualifications, audits, issue resolution, and production support.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing and test system issues across global production sites, with primary support for European manufacturing operations.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, manufacturing efficiency, test effectiveness, and cost reduction.
    • Remain current on industry trends, emerging manufacturing technologies, automation solutions, robotics systems, and quality methodologies.

    Position Details

    • Position Title: Senior Manufacturing Test Systems & Supplier Quality Engineer
    • Location: Barcelona Spain, with Remote support (Preferred proximity to manufacturing sites in Europe)
    • Travel: Up to 25-40% international travel as needed for support in Europe
    • Reports To: Advance Manufacturing Engineering Manager
    • Primary Support Region: European Manufacturing Factories and Global Contract Manufacturers
    • Preferred Experience: Robotics, Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), Electromechanical Systems, Industrial Automation, Manufacturing Test Systems, Supplier Quality Engineering, and Service Validation Processes
