Oracle & MongoDB DBA – Advisory Services


As part of the Advisory Services organization, the Oracle & MongoDB Database Administrator will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, administration, and performance of both Oracle RDBMS and MongoDB environments, with an approximately equal focus across both platforms.


This is a hands‑on, cross‑skilled DBA role requiring strong technical depth in relational (Oracle) and NoSQL (MongoDB) technologies, along with excellent communication and client‑facing advisory skills.


The successful candidate will support multiple client environments across on‑premises and cloud deployments, ensuring database availability, security, performance, and recoverability, while operating independently and collaboratively in a multi‑client advisory model.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform day‑to‑day DBA activities across Oracle and MongoDB platforms.
  • Support new customer transitions, onboarding, and steady‑state operations.
  • Provide consultative advisory services for database architecture, scalability, and operational best practices.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle and MongoDB database platforms.
  • Design, implement, and manage backup, restore, and recovery strategies across both platforms.
  • Monitor database health, capacity, and performance; proactively identify risks.
  • Perform performance tuning and troubleshooting for Oracle and MongoDB workloads.
  • Implement and maintain database security controls, access management, and compliance standards.
  • Develop automation for recurring database operational and maintenance tasks.
  • Create and maintain operational metrics, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Participate in on‑call and escalation support rotations.
  • Identify opportunities for database modernization, optimization, and cloud adoption.
  • Advise sales and account teams on Oracle and MongoDB opportunities within assigned accounts.
  • Develop documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures for client environments.
  • Uphold company policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional related responsibilities as required.


Required Experience and Skills

  • 7+ years of enterprise DBA experience supporting a mix of Oracle and MongoDB databases in on‑premises and cloud environments.
  • Strong experience across the full database lifecycle (development, test, and production).
  • Hands‑on administration of:
  • Oracle Database (including Multitenant CDB/PDB, RAC, Data Guard; GoldenGate desired)
  • MongoDB Community and/or Enterprise Edition (standalone and replica set architectures)
  • Proven expertise in:
  • Backup and recovery strategies
  • Performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • Security hardening, authentication, authorization, and access management (RBAC)
  • Installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching
  • Experience migrating, provisioning, and modernizing databases across environments.
  • Experience supporting ERP systems on Oracle databases (JD Edwards / E1 desired).
  • Ability to advise on MongoDB best practices, limitations, and operational trade‑offs.
  • Public cloud experience:
  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) – required for Oracle workloads
  • AWS, Azure – desired
  • Strong scripting and automation mindset.
  • Experience operating across UNIX, Linux, and Windows platforms.
  • Assist the company in developing a data-driven business culture.
