About the team
Climate Analytics’ Communications team comprises a small core team based in Berlin, covering all aspects of communications, and in most of our regional offices. We work on everything from output with long time horizons (science papers, decarbonisation pathways, online tools, etc.) to quick turnaround reactive commentary.

Job Description
We're looking for freelance communications professionals who we can engage for specific pieces of work and/or across specific short time periods, to add capacity to our team. Successful applicants will be placed on our roster of approved contractors and would be offered short-term engagements as required. Aspects of communications that we are targeting include report editing, document layout and design, infographics, event organising, video production, media relations and social media. Interested candidates are required to specify which aspect they prefer to work in, with evidence of past experience in this field. 
Climate Analytics outputs require a high standard of factual rigour mixed with communications flair, a genuinely global mindset, and a passion for climate action. We are looking for experienced self-starters: we need people who can take a brief, and work quickly and independently to deliver on deadline at the required standard.
Ideally, you will be familiar with at least some of: climate science, energy policy analysis, global development, and international environmental diplomacy. You will either have held one or more senior roles in an established energy or environmental thinktank, or you will have a long track record of working effectively on a freelance basis in this field.

Your profile

Essential:

• Demonstrated commitment to the mission of Climate Analytics
• At least five years of relevant experience in communications, in a setting where factual accuracy and the weight of evidence are critical
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience in climate change communications
• A track record of high-quality work in one or more communications disciplines:
  • report editing
  • document layout and design
  • infographics
  • event organisation and management
  • video production
  • media relations
  • social media.
• An independent work set-up requiring no infrastructural addition
• Registered for tax as a freelancer/consultant in the country where you live (you would be responsible for your own tax, insurance etc)
• Proven ability to build positive, effective relationships with diverse teams, including experience working across timezones in multicultural or international environments
• English fluency to at least C1 level and ideally beyond

Desirable:          

• An interest in international affairs and lived experience of a range of cultures
• Capacity in languages other than English

Conditions

• Successful applicants will be offered a framework contract outlining overall terms, enabling you to join our roster of approved consultants and thus be eligible for engagement on both short-term and piecework bases.
