About Blueberry Balance

Blueberry Balance is a virtual, pediatric-led metabolic health program for adolescents, built by Blueberry Pediatrics. We pair board-certified pediatricians with in-house registered dietitians and exercise specialists to deliver comprehensive weight-management care β€” including GLP-1 therapy where clinically appropriate β€” to teens and their families at home.

Adolescent metabolic health is one of the most under-served areas in pediatrics. Most GLP-1 telehealth is built adult-first and gates care at 18, leaving families with elevated-BMI teens to navigate months-long waitlists at hospital-based programs or nothing at all. Balance exists to close that gap with real pediatric expertise and a holistic, family-centered model β€” never medication in isolation.

The Opportunity

The Nurse Practitioner is a frontline clinician on the Balance care team, practicing under the oversight of a supervising physician. You will carry your own panel of Balance families β€” running intake, reviewing labs, designing care plans with families, prescribing GLP-1 therapy where appropriate, and managing that care over time β€” all within the protocols and multidisciplinary model the program is built on, and within the scope of your state license and collaborative/supervisory arrangement with the overseeing MD.

This is a part-time, flexible engagement designed to grow with the program: it starts at a modest monthly commitment and scales up as the panel does. It's a strong fit for a nurse practitioner who wants meaningful clinical work in adolescent metabolic health without a leadership mandate, and who is interested in building obesity-medicine expertise on the job. You don't need to have run a program or hold an obesity-medicine certification to do this role well β€” you need sound clinical judgment, genuine interest in this population, and the willingness to work inside a coordinated, distributed care team under physician oversight.

What You'll Own

Patient intake and evaluation

  • Complete comprehensive patient intake for adolescents entering the program, including history, risk factors, and eligibility review

  • Order appropriate labs and review results, escalating findings that fall outside program guardrails

Care planning and treatment

  • Meet with patients and their families to design an appropriate, individualized care plan grounded in each teen's goals and clinical picture

  • Prescribe and manage GLP-1 therapy where clinically appropriate and within your prescriptive authority, always within a holistic plan that includes nutrition and behavioral support β€” and know when medication is not the right answer

  • Manage ongoing care for patients and families over time: monitoring visits, dose management, side-effect and safety management, and adherence support

Care-team coordination

  • Coordinate with other care team members β€” physicians, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, and health coaches β€” so each family experiences one cohesive care plan rather than a set of disconnected touchpoints

  • Work within your collaborative/supervisory arrangement with the overseeing physician: follow the program's clinical protocols and escalation pathways, and surface complex or ambiguous cases to the supervising MD or Physician Lead

Experience You'll Need

  • Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (APRN) license in good standing, with national board certification (e.g., FNP-BC/FNP-C or PNP-PC) appropriate to caring for adolescents

  • Active prescriptive authority, and willingness to obtain and maintain licensure and prescriptive authority in the states where Balance operates (including entering into any collaborative practice or supervision agreement required by state law)

  • Comfort and credibility caring for adolescents and their families

  • Interest in adolescent and obesity medicine, and a willingness to complete light onboarding training in weight/obesity management and GLP-1 therapy

  • Availability of 20–80 hours per month, starting on the lower end and scaling up as the program grows

  • Strong written communication; comfort operating in an asynchronous, distributed telehealth care team under physician oversight

Preferred Experience

  • Obesity-medicine certification for advanced practice providers (or a clear path to gaining it)

  • Prior experience prescribing or managing GLP-1 therapy

  • Experience delivering care via telehealth, and fluency with the workflow differences it demands

  • Experience working alongside registered dietitians, behavioral health clinicians, and health coaches in a multidisciplinary model

  • Multi-state licensure (or willingness to pursue it) to support families across the states Balance serves

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) or experience serving linguistically diverse pediatric populations

Time Commitment and Growth Trajectory

This is a part-time role, starting at 20–80 hours per month and scaling with the program's patient panel.

*Compensation for this role is between $55-65/hr depending on location and experience. Quality/Productivity incentives will be added on top.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
