Network Engineer
The Network Engineer supports the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Körber's global network infrastructure. This includes LAN, WAN, WLAN, Internet connectivity, VPN, SD-WAN, cloud networking basics, network security components, and site connectivity services.
The role helps ensure secure, reliable, and well-documented network services that support business operations, cloud platforms, data centres, manufacturing sites, and office locations worldwide. The Network Engineer works closely with senior engineers, Cloud Services, Security Operations, Workplace Services, Service Desk, vendors, and Product IT teams to support day-to-day operations, project delivery, troubleshooting, and service improvements.
This role is part of the overall Infrastructure Domain within the Körber OneIT matrix organization.
Your role in our team
- Support the operation and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure across Körber locations.
- Assist with LAN, WAN, WLAN, Internet, VPN, and SD-WAN services under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Configure, document, and troubleshoot network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure according to defined standards.
- Support basic cloud networking activities in Microsoft Azure and AWS environments, where applicable.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity, and escalate issues where required.
- Investigate incidents, contribute to root cause analysis, and support corrective actions.
- Participate in incident, change, and problem management activities in line with IT service management processes.
- Follow Körber security standards, network architecture principles, and operational procedures.
- Support network lifecycle management, upgrades, patching, and standardization activities.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, inventory information, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, service providers, and project teams on network-related tasks and smaller work packages.
- Support onboarding of new sites, acquisitions, and infrastructure transformation activities as part of a project team.
- Contribute ideas for automation, standardization, and continuous improvement within network operations.
Your Profile
- Completed vocational training, apprenticeship, Bachelor's Degree, or comparable qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Approximately 1–4 years of practical experience in network operations, infrastructure support, or a comparable IT role.
- Solid basic understanding of:
- TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
- Routing and switching fundamentals
- VLANs and Layer 2/Layer 3 networking
- VPN technologies
- Wireless networking basics
- Internet and WAN connectivity
- Basic network security concepts
- First hands-on experience with enterprise network technologies such as Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Juniper, or equivalent solutions is desirable.
- Basic understanding of cloud networking concepts in Azure and/or AWS is an advantage.
- Experience using network monitoring, ticketing, and documentation tools.
- Basic understanding of ITIL and IT Service Management processes, especially incident, change, and problem management.
- Willingness to learn from senior colleagues, follow established standards, and gradually take on more complex responsibilities.
- Interest in automation, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code concepts is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Friendly, respectful, and reliable team player who contributes positively to a collaborative working environment.
- Able to work well in teams, ask for support when needed, share knowledge, and accept guidance from more experienced colleagues.
- Professional, calm, and constructive behaviour, also in stressful operational situations.
- Strong interest in troubleshooting and structured problem solving.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English; additional languages are an advantage.

Preferred Certifications:
- Cisco CCNA or equivalent networking certification
- Aruba Associate or Professional level certification
- Fortinet NSE / Fortinet Certified Fundamentals or Associate level certifications
- Palo Alto Networks entry or associate level certifications
- Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700) or basic Azure networking training
- ITIL Foundation or comparable IT service management training
