Lead and support network hardware migrations and customer provisioning to modernize the network by replacing end-of-life equipment. Execute the installation and configuration of devices across core, aggregation, and access layers while performing network link augments.

Description

Our client is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support a large-scale, nationally aligned network organization undergoing significant architectural and operational transformation. This role sits on a national AMP (Augments, Migrations, and Provisioning) team responsible for expanding network capacity, provisioning customer services, executing hardware migrations, and performing network decommissioning initiatives. The position plays a key role in modernizing the network by replacing end-of-life equipment with current-generation platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Migrations & Provisioning
    • Lead and support network hardware and service migrations, including customer provisioning activities.
    • Execute migrations from legacy and end-of-life platforms to newer standardized hardware (e.g., QFX to ACX)
    • Support customer turn-ups and provisioning requests previously handled through Salesforce-based workflows.
  • Decommissioning & End-of-Life Projects
    • Participate in large-scale End of Service / End of Support (EoS/EoL) initiatives.
    • Identify, remove, and replace obsolete network equipment in compliance with vendor and internal lifecycle standards.
  • Hardware Installation & Configuration
    • Install, configure, and swap network devices across core, aggregation, and access layers, including:
    • Juniper: MX, ACX, QFX
    • Cisco: 7600, 9K
    • Legacy systems: Nokia 7210/7750, older Cisco DSWs
    • Optical and transport gear: ADVA, RAD
  • Network Augmentation & Expansion
    • Perform physical and logical network link augments to increase capacity and support growth initiatives.
    • Initially execute augments internally, with contractors potentially taking on this work in the future.
  • Perform DGP swap-outs on customer premises (CP).
