MEP Senior Project Manager

The MEP Senior Manager is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and oversight for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle. This role ensures that MEP systems are properly coordinated, installed, tested, commissioned, and turned over in accordance with project requirements, client expectations, and company standards. 

The Senior Manager serves as a strategic leader, driving collaboration between Construction, MEP, QA/QC, and Commissioning teams while maintaining accountability for safety, quality, schedule, budget, and operational readiness. In mission-critical and hyperscale environments, this position is focused on delivering fully functional, reliable, and operational systems with a zero-defect mindset. 

• Provide overall leadership for MEP and commissioning activities from preconstruction through project turnover. 

• Develop and execute project-specific MEP and commissioning strategies. 

• Establish project goals, priorities, and performance expectations for project teams. 

• Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule and budget objectives. 

• Manage project resources, staffing plans, and workload distribution. 

• Oversee the installation, startup, testing, and turnover of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and life safety systems. 

• Ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, approved submittals, and manufacturer requirements. 

• Lead technical reviews, constructability reviews, and issue resolution efforts. 

• Coordinate activities between subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and project teams. 

• Drive field execution to ensure systems are installed safely, efficiently, and correctly. 

• Lead commissioning planning, scheduling, and execution activities. 

• Ensure completion of pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing requirements. 

• Coordinate with clients, operations teams, commissioning agents, and trade partners during testing and turnover. 

• Verify system readiness and operational performance prior to client acceptance. 

• Ensure turnover documentation is complete, accurate, and delivered on schedule. 

• Promote and enforce a zero-defect culture across all project activities. 

• Partner with QA/QC teams to ensure inspections, testing, and documentation requirements are achieved. 

• Monitor quality metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives. 

• Ensure deficiencies and non-conformance reports (NCRs) are properly managed and resolved. 

• Conduct audits and reviews to verify compliance with company standards and client requirements. 

• Serve as the primary client contact for MEP and commissioning-related activities. 

• Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and executive-level reporting. 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. 

• Mentor and develop Project Managers, Engineers, Coordinators, Superintendents, and QA/QC personnel. 

• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement. 

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. 

• Equivalent combination of education, military service, technical training, and industry experience may be considered. 

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in MEP construction, commissioning, or mission-critical project delivery. 

• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing large project teams and complex MEP scopes. 

• Experience delivering hyperscale data centers, mission-critical facilities, healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial, or similarly complex projects preferred. 

• Experience managing commissioning programs, integrated systems testing, and operational turnover activities. 

• MP, PE, CCM, LEED, CxA, or other industry certifications preferre

• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause and long-term solutions 

• Team-first mindset with a focus on collaboration and shared success 

• Proficiency in QA/QC and commissioning platforms such as CxAlloy or similar tools 
   
   
   

• Advanced understanding of QA/QC processes, standards, and lifecycle management 

• Strong knowledge of MEP systems, installation practices, and commissioning requirements 

• Proven leadership and team development skills 

• Ability to establish and enforce standards across multiple teams and projects 

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and drive improvements 

• Direct and effective communication skills with field teams, leadership, and clients 

• High level of accountability with a focus on quality, consistency, and results 

• Ability to manage multiple priorities across fast-paced, high-demand environments
