Your role as Mental Health Specialist - Night

Reporting to Annabel Tremblay, manager of the Mental Health Specialist team, the mission of the Mental Health Specialist Night team is to monitor, triage, and manage the overnight queue within the Dialogue platform. Combining the functions of the ER and Dispatch teams, this role is the first clinical touchpoint for members reaching out during night hours—ranging from low-acuity support requests to acute crises and suicidal ideation—ensuring safe, timely, and appropriate care pathways.

What you'll be doing

  • Queue Monitoring & Triage: Actively assess incoming overnight cases to prioritize care based on urgency, clinical need, and risk level.
  • Crisis & Suicide Risk Assessment: Conduct real-time risk assessments (including C-SSRS and clinical tools) and deliver immediate de-escalation, safety planning, and crisis intervention.
  • Triage Calls & Care Routing: Perform initial intake/triage calls for members seeking overnight support, guiding them to internal resources or external clinical pathways.
  • Emergency Escalation: Coordinate directly with external emergency services, crisis lines, and community resources when immediate safety interventions are required.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with overnight medical, nursing, and primary care providers to ensure seamless continuity of care and handoffs for morning teams.
  • Clinical Documentation: Maintain clear, precise, and clinically sound documentation for every interaction and queue assessment.
  • Protocol Refinement: Contribute insight toward optimizing overnight triage workflows, dispatch procedures, and crisis response protocols.

We'd love to hear from you if you have/are

  • Bilingual in English and French, both written and spoken
  • Bachelor's degree in a mental health or human relations field
  • 2+ years of intervention experience as a social worker (or similar role) with a population presenting with challenges related to mental health, including being comfortable with psychosocial assessments
  • Availability to work overnight shifts (minimum 21 hours/week), including recurring weekend overnight coverage.
  • Very good knowledge of community and institutional resources
  • Strong critical thinking and triage skills to independently navigate complex, high-risk cases in a fast-paced environment.
