The coordinator will manage national dues and membership drives while providing administrative support to the Development Director. They are also responsible for processing member inquiries via Zendesk and maintaining the membership database.
Democratic Socialists of America is the largest socialist organization in the United States, with nearly 120,000 members and chapters across the country. Through community and campus-based chapters, DSA members use a variety of tactics, from legislative to direct action, to fight for reforms that empower working people. DSA is a big tent, multi-tendency organization that welcomes everyone committed to democratic socialism.
DSA is seeking an experienced candidate for a Membership Growth and Retention position. This position will report to the Development Director and work closely with other staff to manage requests from members.
Responsibilities
Work with the Development Director, across staff departments, NPC, and relevant National committees to coordinate and execute National dues drives and membership drives
Work alongside Regional Organizers to support chapters in the execution of National dues drives and membership drives
Work with the Development Director as needed on fundraising initiatives
Work with relevant committees to organize membership text banks and phonebanks
Work with the Membership Coordinator and Chapter Development Coordinator to process member requests and inquiries via Zendesk in a timely manner, and maintain the membership database
Track membership data and trends, and create data reports
Provide support for national events as needed
Provide administrative support to the Development Director as needed
Qualifications
Preferred 2 years experience in fundraising, development, or a related field
Preferred experience handling a ticketing system like Zendesk
Preferred experience with CRM or similar systems
Strong organizing and project management skills
Ability to work efficiently and on tight deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively with member leaders from varying political viewpoints underneath DSA’s big tent
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a non-traditional leadership structure, adapting to changing political conditions and organizational needs
High level of accountability, responsibility, and dependability
Ability to travel on occasion
Commitment to democratic socialist, feminist, anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-heterosexist and pro-worker action, and identify as a socialist and be grounded in democratic socialist politics; general agreement with the positions and perspectives of DSA
Experience working in a membership-led organization and/or with member leaders that direct the work (preferred)

Work Schedule: Full-time
Location: Remote
Salary: $65,500
Benefits: Union position. We offer employer paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their spouse/partner and/or dependent children, and three weeks of vacation in the first year of employment, then four weeks each year thereafter. Employer contribution equivalent to 1% of wage to a 401k.
