Meliore Foundation | Executive Director of Flamma
Application Deadline: 5 September 2026
Department: Other
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Remote / Flexible Location
Description
Flamma, based at the Meliore Foundation, is an emerging strategic communications-first programme working to create the political and societal conditions for ambitious action to advance gender equality.
We are seeking an Executive Director who brings a rare blend of strategic vision, creativity, and purpose, someone capable of building a sophisticated strategic communications initiative that shapes public discourse, influences decision-makers, and helps make ambitious action on gender equality politically viable, durable and normalised.
This is a defining leadership opportunity for a visionary strategist who understands how narratives influence political will, resource flows, public legitimacy and the conditions for systemic change. As Executive Director, you will have the chance to shape both the substance and the spirit of a new initiative dedicated to advancing gender equality through strategic communications, partnerships, and narrative power.
Reporting to the Chief of Staff at the Meliore Foundation, and working closely with Programme leaders across Meliore, you will serve as both architect and leader, shaping the long-term vision and impact of Flamma. This is a rare opportunity to lead an ambitious, new strategic communications effort with global relevance.
In this role, you will guide the project from early stages to significant impact; building the strategy, culture, and partnerships that will position Flamma as a trusted voice and catalytic partner in the gender equality and narrative change ecosystems. Working collaboratively with movement leaders, advocates, funders, and creative partners, you will help bridge the worlds of strategic communications, civil society, and philanthropy to accelerate progress towards gender equality.
The Executive Director will:
- Lead an ambitious strategic communications programme committed to driving meaningful change towards gender equality.
- Build and develop partnerships across movements, thematic areas, and geographies, connecting local and regional initiatives with global narratives, strategies and resources.
- Mobilise and engage funders and strategic allies around a shared vision for narrative change, recognising the role narratives play in shaping power, political possibility and public legitimacy.
- Build and lead a team that reflects the diversity and creativity of the movements it serves, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and learning-oriented environment.
This is more than a communications or leadership role, it’s a chance to develop something enduring: an initiative that challenges inequities, changes narratives, and strengthens the collective capacity of the gender equality movement worldwide.
