The medical coder is responsible for applying accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to medical records while ensuring compliance with payer and regulatory guidelines. They also coordinate with billing and authorization teams to support clean claim submissions and conduct internal quality audits.
Salary: PHP 70,000- PHP 100,000/ month
Job Description:
- Apply accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on documentation and services rendered
- Ensure proper code sequencing, modifiers, and compliance with payer and regulatory guidelines
- Review and correct coding-related errors, denials, or rejected claims
- Complete appropriate documentation or system entry regarding claims.
- Abstract additional data elements during the Chart Review process when coding.
- Review patient medical records and clinical documentation
- Identify incomplete or missing documentation and coordinate provider queries
- Apply accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on documentation and services
- Stay updated with coding rules, payer policies, and healthcare regulations
- Support clean claim submission and billing accuracy
- Coordinate with Billing, AR, and Authorization teams
- Maintain productivity and accuracy standards
- Support audit and compliance activities
- Participate in internal and client quality audits/reviews
- Train, coach, and provide guidance to billers to ensure accurate coding and billing processes
- Remains current on medical coding and billing guidelines and auditing protocols
- Follow team and/or client's proper procedures, policies, and methodologies as instructed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to work with and maintain confidential information
- Graduate of Medical allied courses; Nurses, Physical Therapist, Medical Technologist. Preferred but not required.
- Consultancy basis minimum of 6 months consultancy contract (subject for renewal)
- With 1- 3 years' experience in Medical Coding
- Required with a Gastroenterology exposure
- With active coding license (e.g., CPC)
- Demonstrate flexibility in handling different specialties and client assignments
- Understanding of ICD-9 or ICD-10 Coding
- Team player with the ability and willingness to assist, coach, and train billers on coding-specific requirements
- Able to provide and share coding knowledge with team members as needed
- Data entry skills (minimum 50-60 accurate keystrokes per minute)
- Requires strong accuracy, attentiveness to detail and time management skills
- Can work from home with reliable internet and backup connection
