Material Master Data Migration Consultant

This is a remote position.

NextLink is looking for an experienced Material Master Data Migration Consultant to support our client's major ERP transformation involving the migration of material master data from Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) to SAP S/4HANA.

The consultant will be responsible for the identification, extraction, cleansing, validation, interpretation and translation of material master data, ensuring that data is accurate, complete and ready for migration into SAP S/4HANA.

The role will involve close collaboration with business data owners (BDOs), subject matter experts (SMEs) and the wider migration team to validate material data, resolve data issues and support migration readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and extract material master data from Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  
• Collect, cleanse, analyse and interpret material master data for migration.
  
• Translate D365 material data into the required SAP S/4HANA data structure and format.
  
• Validate material attributes, dependencies and relationships.
  
• Assess how material master data aligns with business and site operating requirements.
  
• Identify data gaps, inconsistencies and quality issues.
  
• Review and validate material/SKU data prior to migration.
  
• Support mock-load reviews and assess migration results.
  
• Perform defect analysis and support defect triage and resolution.
  
• Investigate and explain migration issues to BDOs and SMEs.
  
• Provide clarification on D365 fields and their corresponding SAP S/4HANA fields.
  
• Maintain structured Excel-based data migration templates and documentation.
  
• Produce migration readiness outputs and supporting documentation.
  
• Provide business context and legacy-system knowledge to support successful migration.
  

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience in Material Master Data and ERP data migration.
  
• Strong experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
  
• Experience working with material master data, SKUs and related attributes.
  
• Strong understanding of data extraction, cleansing, validation and transformation.
  
• Experience supporting ERP data migration / data conversion projects.
  
• Good understanding of SAP S/4HANA material master data.
  
• Experience mapping or translating data between legacy ERP systems and SAP.
  
• Experience with data quality management and defect analysis.
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  
• Experience working with business data owners and subject matter experts.
  
• Strong Excel skills, including experience managing large and complex data templates.
  
• Ability to understand both technical data requirements and business processes.
  

Desirable Experience:

• Previous experience delivering a D365 to SAP S/4HANA migration.
  
• Experience with SAP Material Master / relevant S/4HANA data objects.
  
• Experience with mock loads, migration testing and defect triage.
  
• Knowledge of manufacturing, supply chain or operations processes.
  
• Experience working on large-scale ERP transformation programmes.
  
• Previous experience working in complex or global organisations.
