Valsoft acquires and operates software companies with a permanent ownership mindset, emphasizing autonomy, disciplined growth, and long-term value creation. Manos focuses on healthcare-adjacent verticals, including dental, medical, and veterinary software, as well as solutions serving the service industry and GovTech sectors.

Position Description

As we continue to expand our portfolio of vertical market software businesses, we are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as Managing Director. Reporting directly to one of our Investment Partners, the Managing Director will lead one of our businesses, ranging from $10M to $30M in total revenue, with full ownership and accountability for its P&L, team, product and growth. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader capable of driving operational excellence, organic growth and profitability, while building collaboration across teams to ensure the successful execution of business strategies.

This is a CEO role in a business we plan to own for the long term. There is no exit timeline. You will have real autonomy to set strategy and run the business, with the support of an Investment Partner, Valsoft's operating playbooks, and a network of peer Managing Directors across the group. Successful Managing Directors who deliver strong results can take on additional businesses over time, with a path to a Portfolio Manager role.

Key Responsibilities

Business strategy and operations

• Execute within our operating model based on four pillars: strategy and positioning of the business, operational excellence, growth, and product strategy and technology.
• Identify, define and execute strategies required to achieve growth plans and operating objectives, with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Improve operational efficiency and scalability to optimize performance and maximize profitability.
• Grow revenue by identifying and supporting new opportunities and growth strategies, including cross-selling and penetrating new markets.
• Lead initiatives and solve challenges related to sales, customer success and research and development.
• Prioritize customer satisfaction and retention by ensuring strong solutions, service delivery and customer support.
• Own the product strategy and roadmap, aligned with market trends and business objectives, balancing investment in research and development with maintenance to win new customers while retaining existing ones.

Financial management

• Assume P&L responsibility and focus on achieving key financial metrics related to revenue, ROI, EBITDA, customer retention, etc.
• Own the budget and forecast, and ensure efficient financial management of the business on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Building effective teams

• Build, coach and lead high-performing teams across the business.
• Cultivate a culture of performance, continuous improvement, collaboration and innovation.
• Provide clear direction and motivate teams toward achieving key milestones and delivering measurable results.

Candidate Profile

Experience

• 4+ years' experience in management consulting or in a technology or software business, and significant leadership experience, such as running a business, a business unit, or a function with its own budget and team.
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, economics, or any other relevant field.
• Master of Business Administration (MBA) (a strong asset).
• Relevant experience as a business operations leader with a commercial, customer-centric and continuous improvement mindset.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas is an asset: sales (customer acquisition, market penetration), customer service (support and professional services), product development (research and development).
• Financial acumen (P&L management, budget, forecast).
• People-centric leader with experience successfully building, leading, developing, and mentoring a high-performing team.
• Experience mobilizing people toward a common goal.
• Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and drive results.
