Title: Manager, Software Engineering

Team: Patient Registration

Location: Remote (EST or CST)

As a Manager of Software Engineering on the Patient Registration team, you’ll help shape the future of healthcare by leading a talented, distributed engineering team responsible for building and evolving products that improve the patient registration experience. You’ll partner closely with Product Management, Architecture, Engineering, and Quality Assurance to design, build, scale, and maintain innovative software solutions that drive patient activation and better healthcare outcomes.

This role combines people leadership, technical execution, and delivery accountability while helping your team thoughtfully adopt AI-assisted development practices to deliver secure, high-quality software at scale.

What You’ll Spend Your Time Doing

  • Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team. Hire, mentor, and support software engineers and QA professionals while fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment.
  • Drive successful software delivery. Lead project planning and execution, ensuring your team delivers high-quality, scalable software that meets business, customer, security, and technical requirements.
  • Champion responsible AI adoption. Facilitate the thoughtful adoption of AI-assisted development tools and establish team practices for validating and safely incorporating AI-generated code and technical recommendations.
  • Build and maintain great software. Contribute to software development by implementing required functionality, writing technical documentation, participating in design reviews, and maintaining software quality and security standards.
  • Own product health. Take ownership of existing products throughout their lifecycle by managing bug fixes, product maintenance, production support, and customer escalations.
  • Promote engineering excellence. Review code through pull requests, support CI/CD practices, encourage automated testing, and help continuously improve engineering processes and quality.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Have deep experience building and supporting highly distributed applications using Microsoft .NET (C#) or Java.
  • Are passionate about developing and growing engineering talent through coaching and mentorship.
  • Enjoy collaborating across Product, Engineering, Architecture, QA, and other cross-functional teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Have experience designing, building, or integrating AI agents and LLM-powered workflows into production systems.
  • Have successfully adopted or led the use of AI-assisted development tools, including coding assistants, AI-powered testing, documentation generation, or code generation tools.
  • Have established engineering practices for reviewing, validating, and safely incorporating AI-generated code.
  • Have experience with SQL Server, MongoDB, NoSQL databases, cloud platforms, web services, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Have experience with QA automation tooling and leveraging AI-assisted tools to orchestrate testing and unit test generation.
  • Are a self-motivated, pragmatic problem solver who thrives in a distributed team environment.
  • Have excellent technical and non-technical communication skills.
  • Have experience managing contractors and external vendors.

We Do Have A Few Requirements To Check

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline required.
  • 8+ years of experience building and supporting highly distributed software applications.
  • 3+ years of people management experience leading software engineering teams.
  • 3+ years of project management experience delivering successful software releases.

Compensation & Rewards

  • Total Cash Compensation: CAD $145,000–$170,000, depending on qualifications.
