Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manager, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting to take a key role in our external reporting process and broader corporate accounting initiatives. This is a hands-on, hybrid role with a strong technical foundation, responsibility for process improvement and automation, and the opportunity to impact multiple areas of our accounting organization—including support for M&A integration and innovation in reporting workflows

We’d love to have you apply, even if you don’t feel you meet every single requirement in this posting. At Yelp, we’re looking for great people, not just those who simply check off all the boxes. This is a full-time remote role based in the United States.

What you'll do:

SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting

  • Lead the preparation, coordination, and review of quarterly and annual filings (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K), ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Draft financial statements, footnotes, and Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) disclosures.
  • Perform technical accounting research; prepare position papers on complex topics (e.g., business combinations, segment reporting); and conduct detailed analysis and review of key accounting items such as cash flow statements and diluted EPS.
  • Identify and evaluate upcoming accounting pronouncements, lead implementation of new standards, and clearly communicate findings to management, business partners, and auditors.
  • Coordinate the review process with internal stakeholders, legal counsel, and external auditors.
  • Oversee and mentor accounting team members, providing coaching, goal setting, performance feedback, and career development.

Corporate Accounting & Adhoc Projects

  • Assist with monthly/quarterly close activities, including reviewing journal entries and reconciliations related to stock-based compensation.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to streamline close and reporting workflows, with a focus on automation, AI-enabled solutions, and enhanced controls.
  • Ensure robust documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls to meet SOX and audit requirements.
  • Support special projects and ad hoc analysis, including M&A integration.

What it takes to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
  • 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a public company SEC reporting role or with a Big 4 public accounting firm.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC rules; experience with Workiva is preferred.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvement and leverage automation tools or AI within accounting or finance functions; experience with Oracle is a plus.
  • Strong skills in developing, maintaining, and improving accounting documentation and policy materials.
  • Detail-oriented and process-minded, with strong analytical skills to break down complex problems and implement scalable solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner across multidisciplinary teams and varying levels of staff to deliver results.
  • Effective at delegating, mentoring, and supporting a team-oriented culture focused on process excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Self-starter who thrives with minimal direction in a fast-paced, changing environment and embraces new technology and innovation.

What you'll get:

  • Effective your first day: Full medical, vision, and dental
  • 15 days PTO (accrual begins on date of hire and increases with 2+ years of tenure thereafter), 12 paid holidays, plus one floating holiday
  • Up to 14 weeks of parental leave
  • Monthly wellness subsidy
  • Work from home reimbursement
  • Flexible spending account
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Employee stock purchase plan
  • Compensation range for this position is $118,000 - $199,000 annually. You may also be offered a bonus and benefits.
