Position Overview:

The Manager – Transportation Intelligence & Optimization serves as the business owner for transportation analytics, decision intelligence, business intelligence, and optimization capabilities. This leader is accountable for transforming transportation data into actionable business decisions that improve service, reduce cost, increase asset utilization, optimize network performance, and maximize return on transportation technology investments.

This role does not own enterprise data platforms, infrastructure, or engineering. Instead, this position owns the transportation business intelligence strategy, enterprise transportation KPI framework, business reporting standards, analytical portfolio prioritization, optimization opportunity pipeline, and value realization for decision intelligence capabilities.

Working closely with Transportation Product Management, Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement, Operations, Finance, Procurement, and IT Data & Analytics, this leader ensures transportation decisions are driven by trusted data, standardized metrics, advanced analytics, and measurable business outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Lead the Transportation Decision Intelligence strategy and multi-year roadmap, aligning analytics, business intelligence, optimization, and AI capabilities with enterprise transportation priorities.
• Own the transportation analytics and optimization portfolio, prioritizing investments and resources based on strategic value, operational impact, and measurable business outcomes.
• Direct transportation business intelligence and executive reporting, including dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, metric definitions, and reporting standards to provide consistent, timely, and actionable insights.
• Identify and lead transportation optimization opportunities across network design, routing, mode and carrier selection, consolidation, asset utilization, cost-to-serve, and overall network performance.
• Establish business data and analytics governance, including transportation business rules, KPI definitions, reporting logic, master data requirements, and standards that support a reliable single source of truth.
• Champion advanced analytics and AI-enabled decision intelligence, evaluating and sponsoring capabilities that improve transportation decisions, operational performance, and financial results.
• Partner cross-functionally with Transportation Operations, Product Management, Enterprise Data & Analytics, Finance, Procurement, and other stakeholders to align priorities, improve data quality, validate business value, and drive adoption of analytical solutions.
• Lead and develop a high-performing Transportation Decision Intelligence team, establishing accountability for execution, continuous improvement, innovation, adoption, and realization of business outcomes while providing executive-level insights and recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

• Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) 

• 10+ years Transportation or Supply Chain experience 

• 5+ years of leadership experience either managing a team of direct reports or indirectly leading cross-functional groups. 

• Demonstrated experience leading business intelligence, transportation analytics, or optimization functions 

• Experience with: 

  • Oracle Transportation Management 

  • Power BI

  • Transportation Analytics 

  • Supply Chain Optimization 

  • Network Modeling 

  • Future development of AI-enabled Decision Support 

  • KPI Governance and Business Intelligence Strategy 

• Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.

LOCATION: Remote home office with access to a major airport.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Travel may be necessary 20% of the time.

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for the role is between $107,500 - $150,500 per year, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
