Role Description:

As a Manager, Lab Operations, you will play a critical role in supporting our Oak Street Health patients, providers and business by supporting organization-wide lab standards that meet regulatory requirements and drive excellence in lab collection and processing, safety, and lab optimization. This role will work to support and develop new standard operating procedures for lab-related compliance, ensure CMS CLIA-waived compliance for point-of-care testing across the enterprise, develop lab training structures for new and current Oakies, and build mechanisms for lab quality assurance. Additionally, this role will manage all national and regional lab vendors and maintain our test compendium.

 

Core Responsibilities:

 

●      Centrally support oversight of all center lab operations for Oak Street Health across 200+ centers

●      Business and strategic liaison for all lab vendor relationships, responsible for optimizing lab vendor service agreements to facilitate strong lab performance across the organization. Develops organizational lab standards, in alignment with federal and state regulatory requirements

●      Negotiate pricing and service level agreements with our lab vendors

●      Builds strategy for effective compendium management, accountable for maintenance of all lab compendiums, in collaboration with EMR and product teams

●      Track and trend accountable metrics for lab performance, including overall test volume, turnaround time (TAT), test not processed (TNP) and test in question (TIQ)

●      Monitor org-wide adherence to lab-related monitoring structures, such as lab order tracking

●      In partnership with Pop Health and clinical leaders, leads integration of new lab device testing (POC) and new lab specimen additions to support care model outcomes

●      Analyzes lab performance across the organization, identifying labs with high error rates and develops implementation plans to improve lab processing performance

●      Directs and provides guidance to Practice Managers and center staff on how to effectively allocate and manage lab resources and equipment based on patient volume, space availability, and program priorities, goals and objectives

●      Maintains system for tracking all CLIA-waived compliance requirements and certificates, including control logs, ensuring documentation rigor, and CLIA document storage

●      Partners with Design Committee and Expansion on lab-related center set-up and leads state CLIA integration for new states

●      Provides consultative support for lab-related incident reports, partners with safety on lab-related Root Cause Analyses

●      Completes onsite center visits to monitor adherence to lab standards

●      Builds organization-wide lab training for new and current care team Oakies, in partnership with CO&L partners in care delivery and Learning.

●      Drives cross-functional partnership with key stakeholders across the organization, including Patient Engagement, Expansion, Process Improvement, Finance, Materials Management, etc.

●      Responsible for enabling strong accountable metric performance for lab operations

●      Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to Oak Street Health markets

●      Other duties as assigned

 

 

What are we looking for?

●        Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, in addition to 5-8 years experience

●        At least 3 years of direct experience in a clinical laboratory

●        MLS, MT, or MLT certification preferred

●        Epic certification or experience preferred

●        Demonstrated experience in independently managing and leading complex, org-wide projects in a timely manner with minimal supervision, and ability to prioritize and effectively navigate multiple competing priorities

●        Demonstrated skill in problem solving, critical thinking, conflict resolution, and exceptional communication skills

●        Demonstrated experience in vendor management, preferred

●        A flexible and positive attitude, and a strong desire to change the traditional primary care paradigm

●        High emotional intelligence as evidenced by ability to evaluate/perceive a situation from multiple lenses and understand various perspectives in coming to problem resolution

●        Travel Required - 10%

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$66,330.00 - $145,860.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
