The Director of Application Integration is the lead owner for SeneGence's business applications, with primary responsibility for Shopify and its connected application ecosystem. Reporting to the SVP of IT, this role owns application strategy, configuration, integration, reliability, and delivery of business requirements across a complex commerce environment.
Working directly with business stakeholders, the Director translates business rules, workflows, and requirements into scalable application solutions using native platform capabilities, configuration, and proven off-the-shelf applications wherever practical. When custom development is needed, this role defines the business and technical requirements and partners with the Software Development team through delivery.
Marketing owns the day-to-day operation of Shopify content, merchandising, and campaigns, while IT, led by this role for the application layer, owns platform configuration, integrations, technical capabilities, and ongoing platform evolution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as the lead owner for Shopify and its connected application ecosystem, with accountability for the application roadmap, configuration, integrations, reliability, lifecycle, and business outcomes.
• Work directly with business leaders and subject-matter experts to understand, clarify, and prioritize business rules, workflows, and requirements.
• Take primary responsibility for delivering business requirements through native platform capabilities, configuration, and proven off-the-shelf applications.
• Research, evaluate, select, configure, and integrate third-party applications and services, considering business fit, security, compatibility, scalability, supportability, vendor strength, and total cost.
• When a requirement cannot be met effectively through configuration or an off-the-shelf solution, define the business need, scope, integration points, and acceptance criteria; engage the Software Development team; and remain accountable for the completed application outcome.
• Own application integration architecture and data flows between Shopify and supporting systems, including ERP, CRM, marketing automation, payment, fulfillment, analytics, and other SaaS platforms.
• Maintain a clear division of responsibilities in which Marketing operates site content, merchandising, and campaigns, while IT owns platform configuration, integrations, access, releases, and technical capabilities.
• Establish and maintain application governance, documentation, access controls, release practices, change management, and support processes for business-critical platforms.
• Monitor application health, integration reliability, vendor performance, licensing, incidents, and risks; lead resolution and continuous improvement.
• Manage the application portfolio and delivery backlog, balancing business value, urgency, risk, cost, and long-term maintainability.
• Lead and develop team members and coordinate work across business units, technology teams, vendors, and global stakeholders.
• Communicate priorities, decisions, status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to business and technical stakeholders.
• Stay current on the Shopify ecosystem, application-integration practices, and practical uses of AI-assisted tools that improve configuration, analysis, documentation, testing, and operational efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR POSITION:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in application ownership, eCommerce platforms, application integration, solution delivery, or related enterprise technology roles.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience leading teams responsible for business applications, integrations, or platform delivery.
• Deep hands-on experience owning and administering Shopify in a complex business environment, including platform configuration, permissions, third-party applications, integrations, releases, and operational support.
• Demonstrated success translating business rules and requirements into reliable application solutions and leading those solutions through implementation and adoption.
• Proven experience evaluating, selecting, implementing, and managing off-the-shelf applications and external technology vendors.
• Experience integrating Shopify or a comparable eCommerce platform with ERP, CRM, marketing automation, payment, fulfillment, analytics, or other enterprise systems.
• Strong working knowledge of APIs, iPaaS, data flows, identity and access, testing, release management, security, and application support sufficient to lead solution decisions and delivery.
• Sound judgment in determining when a requirement should be met through configuration or an existing application and when custom development is warranted.
• Ability to lead cross-functional work, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with executives, business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors.
• Strong ownership, problem-solving, negotiation, documentation, and decision-making skills.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED FOR POSITION:
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or another enterprise ERP platform.
• Experience with Azure integration services or an enterprise integration platform as a service (iPaaS).
• Experience supporting global, multi-market, or direct-selling eCommerce operations.
• Technical fluency in APIs, data mapping, data modeling, and software delivery practices sufficient to work effectively with the Software Development team.
