The Manager, Field Services is responsible for gathering project information, supporting installation trials, and troubleshooting refractory installation issues. They will also collaborate with sales and marketing teams to identify process improvements and develop performance metrics.

Summary
The Manager, Field Service is a regional position that is accountable for contributing to HarbisonWalker Internationals overall business performance by working with internal and external customers to gather specific information on refractory installation projects, supporting refractory installation trials and troubleshooting refractory installation problems. This role is responsible for participating in Value Added Services, Marketing, and Sales meetings to identify opportunities for continuous process improvement as well as creating new processes and metrics.
Responsibilities
- Educating employees, customers, contractor installers, and sales representatives on processes and improvement ideas
- Facilitating meetings to develop and monitor critical service metrics for the value-added services organization; establishing appropriate performance measures and staff for tracking progress of specific prescribed activities and goals and ensuring delivery of business results
- Offering strategic customer sales and technical support; Tracking competitive activity in region
- Collaborating with the HarbisonWalker International Sales and Technical Marketing team(s) to develop and support new growth potentials and build a best in class operation
- Partnering with the HR business partner to develop value added services competency/learning program to develop the installation team(s); leveraging best practices and ensuring knowledge is institutionalized and captured; maintaining headcount needs
- Assisting with the installation needs within region
Requirements
- B.S. Degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical or Mechanical, or Operations Management
- Requires experience in refractory installation for both Ferrous and Non-Ferrous applications
- Requires refractory installation equipment operation, repair and troubleshooting knowledge
- Requires computer operation skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Requires strong strategic thinking and business problem solving skills
- Requires strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Requires strong analytical skills and the ability to assemble and quickly analyze data
- Requires excellent organization skills with accurate and precise attention to detail
- Requires self-motivation with the ability to adapt quickly
- Requires six plus (6+) years of refractory installation experience or equivalent construction or manufacturing experience considered.
- Requires two plus (2+) years of people management across a multitude of locations preferred.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
