ABOUT THE ROLE: 

The Data Governance Manager will be responsible for establishing and leading the enterprise data governance program across the organization. This role will define governance standards, stewardship models, operating cadences, and data management practices that improve consistency, trust, quality, and accountability across enterprise reporting and analytics. The Manager will partner closely with business stakeholders, analytics teams, data engineering, and IT leadership to embed governance into everyday delivery processes while enabling scalable and trusted enterprise data practices. This role will help drive standardization of key business definitions, metadata management, lineage visibility, and certified datasets across the organization.

In addition, the Data Governance Manager will also provide leadership and operational coordination across supporting Reporting & Analytics resources, including Business Systems Analysts (BSAs), QA resources, and other data-focused analysts aligned to enterprise analytics and governance initiatives.

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Data Governance Leadership

  • Manage the enterprise data governance operating model, including governance councils, domain working sessions, decision logs, and follow-through actions.
  • Define and maintain enterprise governance standards, policies, and procedures that support scalable and trusted analytics delivery.
  • Establish governance operating cadences and cross-functional collaboration processes across business and technical teams.

Team Leadership & Delivery Enablement

  • Provide leadership, coordination, and operational direction for Reporting & Analytics Business Systems Analysts (BSAs), QA resources, and other data-focused analysts supporting enterprise reporting and governance initiatives.
  • Establish standardized intake, requirement, testing, documentation, and governance processes across analytics delivery teams.
  • Improve cross-functional collaboration and delivery quality by aligning governance requirements with business analysis, QA validation, and reporting development practices.
  • Support resource prioritization, workload management, and continuous improvement across the Reporting & Analytics support functions.

Data Ownership & Stewardship

  • Define and manage enterprise data ownership and stewardship structures, including clear roles, responsibilities, and decision rights across key business domains.
  • Partner with business leaders and technical teams to ensure accountability for enterprise data quality, consistency, and lifecycle management.
  • Facilitate governance discussions, issue resolution, prioritization, and policy adoption across stakeholders.

Business Glossary & Standards

  • Own and maintain the enterprise business glossary and measure governance process, including:
    • Standard business definitions
    • Approval workflows
    • Change management and version control
    • Documentation standards
  • Improve consistency of enterprise reporting by reducing duplicate metrics and conflicting KPI definitions.

Metadata, Lineage & Trusted Data

  • Define governance standards for metadata management, lineage visibility, access conventions, retention policies, and certification of trusted datasets.
  • Partner with analytics and engineering teams to improve transparency and traceability of enterprise data assets.
  • Support scalable governance practices within cloud-based analytics and lakehouse environments.

Governance Integration & Data Quality

  • Embed governance requirements into delivery and agile processes so governance becomes part of standard execution rather than an after-the-fact activity.
  • Coordinate with data quality and business stakeholders to align governance standards with monitoring, issue management, and remediation ownership.
  • Support consistent and governed reporting practices across Power BI, Excel, and enterprise analytics platforms.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & INTERESTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in data governance, data management, analytics enablement, or related enterprise data roles.
  • Minimum of 1 year of proven leadership experience leading or coordinating Business Systems Analysts (BSAs), QA resources, or analytics support teams within enterprise reporting or analytics organizations.
  • Proven experience designing and executing enterprise governance programs, operating models, and governance cadences.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Data stewardship and ownership models
    • Business glossary management
    • Metadata and lineage concepts
    • Data lifecycle management
    • Governance controls and standards
  • Experience improving consistency of enterprise reporting and KPI definitions through structured governance practices.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills across business and technical teams.
  • Ability to write clear, practical, and implementable governance standards and policies.
  • Experience integrating governance into agile delivery and operational processes.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based analytics ecosystems and modern data platforms.
  • Strong organizational and facilitation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within Azure-based analytics or lakehouse environments.
  • Familiarity with Power BI governance and certified dataset practices.
  • Exposure to enterprise data quality management and remediation workflows.
  • Experience supporting governance within enterprise-scale reporting and analytics organizations.
  • Experience working with enterprise operational systems such as ERP, CRM, or ITSM platforms.
Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base salary.
