Position Description

Base pay is influenced by several factors including a candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, and anticipated contributions to meet the needs of the business, along with internal pay equity and external market driven rates. The salary range displayed has not been adjusted for geographical location. The Manager, Data Engineering will be responsible for managing the workflow, assignment, and quality review/oversite of the work product for a team of 3-4 data engineers. This position will set information ingestion standards, development processes and deployment release schedules for the team. In addition, this role will provide technical guidance and best practices for design, modeling, and data presentation/implementation for team members. The Manager Data Engineering will also ensure the team’s skillsets support future success.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Manage the assignment, workflow, and oversite process to ensure quality, consistency, and timeliness of deliverables form data engineers.
  • Create and maintain standards for data design, modeling, and deployment in Snowflake.
  • Provide direction and training to data engineers regarding foundational applications used in the development lifecycle.
  • Assess new data ingestion patters to improve efficiency and timeliness of data availability.
  • Define data delivery strategy and monitor data release schedule.
  • Provide guidance to data analyst community on best practices for leveraging and querying new data assets.
  • Interpret business needs from requests, and rapidly implement effective technical solutions that meet long term objective of providing consistent data delivery across enterprise.
  • Create and maintain ETL Source to Target mapping documents, data playbooks, and data flow inventory documents.

Skills:

  • Ability to manage and lead technical team.
  • Clear concise, communication skills and ability to distill complex information into business terms.
  • Strong Data Modeling and Design abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple, complex projects and shifting priorities.
  • Desire to ensure technical knowledge and skillsets are current.

Knowledge:

  • Extensive knowledge of Snowflake, WhereScape Azure toolsets
  • Healthcare data sets, industry standard data models and transmission formats (HL7, ANSI etc.)
  • Master Data Management, Data Quality, Reference Data and other concepts, principles, and toolsets.

Experience:

  • 5+ years designing and implementing the data architecture (conceptual, logical, physical & dimensional models) experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience with cloud data infrastructure (preferably Azure)

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related studies; or equivalent related project experience.
