The System Programmer is responsible for the maintenance, security, and availability of Mainframe systems within IBM's cloud-hosted z/OS environments. They will also install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems and security products while providing automation solutions for repetitive tasks.

SailPoint’s Mainframe team develops Connectors for the three main security products: RACF, ACF2, and TSS. These connectors are offered as part of the SailPoint Identity Security Cloud and IdentityIQ products.
Using these Connectors, we provide our customers an efficient and reliable way to securely govern their Mainframe systems.
We have historically used zPDT environments to develop, validate, and support our connectors, and are now moving these environments to IBM’s cloud-hosted service that provides on-demand z/OS development and test environments (HDISV).
Role Overview
The System Programmer is responsible for providing support to critical internal mainframe-related infrastructure and system software. This is a professional-level position and requires strong execution and analytical abilities. This position is expected to interact and collaborate with Product Engineering and various groups within Information Technology. The candidate must have strong server, network,
communication, and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the ongoing maintenance, security, and availability of Mainframe systems set up on IBM’s cloud-hosted service providing on-demand z/OS development and test environments.
Applies professional-level technical skill and judgement to provide non-routine technical support for computer / data center operations.
Installs, configures, upgrades, tunes, and troubleshoots the Mainframe z/OS operating system; applies PTFs / maintenance via SMP/E; performs Initial Program Loads (IPL); and tunes system parameters.
Installs and configures Mainframe security products such as RACF, ACF2, and TSS.
Monitors, tracks, and records system performance and utilization metrics.
Provides automation solutions for manual, repetitive tasks using scripting and configuration management systems.
Assists with the installation, configuration, and testing of newer product releases of the SailPoint Mainframe connector.
Improves the efficiency of, and helps standardize, current processes.
Determines and documents the root cause of an outage, its duration, and recommendations or steps to resolve issues.
Provides assistance as required in analysing trends and suggesting long-term and short-term improvements.
Assists in change management processes, implements change requests, and meets project deliverables within defined guidelines.
Ability to work after hours, including weekends and nights, when required.
Responds to general inquiries.
Requires a dynamic, hard-working individual with excellent inter-personal, oral, and written communication skills.
Capable of effectively communicating highly technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
10+ years of solid experience working as a System Administrator in an enterprise environment.
Prior experience maintaining Mainframe z/OS environments and security products such as RACF, ACF2, and TSS.
Experience installing and configuring the Mainframe z/OS operating system, z/VM, z/PDT and HDISV.
Experience installing and configuring RACF, ACF2, or TSS.
Experience in REXX, JCL, and SMP/E.
Experience with TCP/IP programming, IBM/C, or SAS/C will be an added advantage.
Strong understanding of Linux, networking, firewalls, etc.
Strong ability to self-learn new technologies.• Individual should be self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
Sound planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments in an environment that requires multitasking among concurrent projects.
