AI Summary

Design and balance virtual economies, including progression curves and F2P mechanics, to ensure player engagement. Manage the Live Ops calendar, in-game storefronts, and collaborate with data teams to optimize revenue and player conversion.
At Fusebox, we believe great games are built by curious, collaborative people who love figuring things out. We are looking for a Live Ops & Economy Designer (at a Mid to Senior level) to join our Product Management & Live Ops team. In this role, you will work closely with our Product Director to shape the balance, systems, and live features that keep our players engaged.

We design narrative-driven games that share a common blueprint and DNA. This means when you design or optimise a feature, your ideas have the power to elevate multiple titles across our portfolio. If you love casual game systems, thrive in a fast-growing environment, and are excited to step into a role with high autonomy where you can truly spread your wings, we want to hear from you!

An Important Note on Qualifications: We understand that some candidates might hesitate if they don't check every single box in the requirements. If you look at the description below and feel excited about the work—even if you don't consider yourself an expert yet—we warmly encourage you to apply. We value resourcefulness, a growth mindset, and a willingness to learn far more than a rigid checklist.

What You'll Be DoingDesigning for the Player Experience

  • Balancing virtual economies—including gems, tickets, and seasonal passes—to ensure players feel rewarded and engaged.
  • Mapping out mathematical progression curves and establishing faucet/sink ratios across our active titles, ensuring that robust logic always supports a fair and intuitive user experience.
  • Creating and balancing accessible Free-to-Play (F2P) mechanics, such as progression-driven systems, custom achievement loops, and integrated seasonal passes.

Keeping the Game Fresh (Live Ops)

  • Collaborating on a predictable, exciting Live Ops calendar packed with creative event formats, flash sales, and fun progression triggers.
  • Configuring and looking after our in-game storefronts, adapting store layouts, and designing regional pricing adjustments or event-driven customisation sales.
  • Partnering with our Data team to look at player conversion funnels, understanding spending behavior, and discovering creative ways to optimise performance.

Working Smart with Modern Tools

  • Using generative AI tools within our Google Workspace environment to help you stress-test your mathematical models, simulate ideas, and automate everyday balance checks.

What Will Help You Thrive Here

  • You don't need to be an unyielding, decades-deep expert, but you genuinely enjoy looking at data, figuring out design puzzles, and discovering where an economy can be improved.
  • You are excited to step into a space where you are given the strategy and context to run with your ideas without needing constant hand-holding.
  • You have experience or a strong comfort level working with casual mobile game mechanics (like Match 3, Merge 3, or narrative choices) rather than massive, ultra-complex MMORPG or 4X systems.
  • You enjoy breaking down your mathematical models or player insights into accessible conversations for artists, writers, and engineers.

Things We Love (But Aren't Strict Requirements)

  • An interest in the social dynamics, drama, and competitive mechanics of reality television shows like Love Island, Big Brother, or The Traitors (since our games live in these incredible narrative worlds!).
  • Some experience or a keen interest in learning how to run clean A/B tests to explore store layouts, dynamic pricing, or ticket bundles.

What Success Looks Like Together

  • Virtual Economy Equilibrium: Keeping our virtual game economies perfectly balanced—eliminating resource inflation while maintaining steady shop conversions.
  • An Inspiring Calendar: Building a lively, dynamic events calendar that gives players fresh, exciting reasons to engage with our narrative titles every day.
  • Systemic ARPU Growth: Seeing a direct, positive impact on our revenue metrics through the continuous optimisation of our shared mid-core monetisation features.
