USBC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as the Live Event Production Manager.

 

As the Live Event Production Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of all BowlTV events, overseeing every aspect from inception to execution. Your primary focus will be on delivering exceptional live broadcasts that captivate audiences and showcase the excitement of bowling.

 

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in setting up and managing live events, preferably in the realm of sports broadcasting or digital media. Strong production skills, including directing and producing live broadcasts, are essential, as is experience covering high-level sporting events.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Event Leadership and Production Oversight

  • Lead the BowlTV event coverage team for all BowlTV events, ensuring high-quality live and recorded broadcasts.
  • Serve as the on-site Manager/Producer for the PBA Tour and liaison with leads for the PWBA Tour and other major events, overseeing the full production workflow.
  • Manage and mentor BowlTV producers to maintain consistent production standards.
  • Oversee all BowlTV contractors, including recruiting, hiring, training, and scheduling event production staff.
  • Establish and communicate clear content goals for each event, assigning key production roles such as producer, technical director, camera operator, chat moderator, play-by-play announcer, analyst, and sideline reporter.

Event Coverage Planning and Coordination

  • Develop and implement comprehensive coverage plans, including storytelling elements, promotional tie-ins, and content highlights.
  • Coordinate with USBC Public Relations, Bowlers Journal, Marketing, and Event Operations to ensure cohesive coverage and consistent messaging.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and PR teams on pre-event and post-event communications, including press releases, promotional assets, and key announcements.
  • Participate in production meetings and debriefs to evaluate performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

Technical Operations and Platform Management

  • Oversee all operational content aspects of BowlTV.com, including channel setup, live stream monitoring, and management of VOD content and archival processes.
  • Ensure technical quality and broadcast standards are met across all event platforms, troubleshooting issues in real time when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the IT and Video Production teams to maintain and enhance BowlTV streaming infrastructure and user experience.

Marketing and Sponsorship Integration

  • Work with key marketing leads to integrate sponsorship assets, advertising placements, and promotional activations into BowlTV programming.
  • Coordinate with the client services team to ensure sponsor deliverables are met across live events and broadcasts.
  • Provide creative and logistical input for BowlTV promotional campaigns, content launches, and event-based marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure all broadcasts adhere to BowlTV and USBC brand and creative standards in coordination with the creative and brand marketing teams.

Customer and Viewer Experience

  • Partner with the customer service team to address live event-related inquiries, chat moderation, and refund considerations.
  • Implement strategies to enhance viewer engagement and satisfaction during live broadcasts and event streams.
  • Monitor chat interactions during live events and ensure communication aligns with USBC’s tone and brand values.

Reporting, Analytics, and Budget Management

  • Track and analyze viewership metrics, content engagement, and operational performance for each event.
  • Prepare post-event recaps and performance summaries, providing insights to improve future broadcasts.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage operational budgets for event production, including forecasting and cost control.
  • Recommend investments in equipment, personnel, or process improvements to optimize production quality and efficiency.

On-Site and Event Support

  • Attend live events to oversee production setup, execution, and tear-down, ensuring smooth operations and broadcast readiness.
  • Provide leadership and support to event production staff, ensuring effective communication and problem-solving on site.
  • Act as the liaison between event operations, production teams, and external partners to maintain a unified execution plan.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • BowlTV Contractors

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Strong knowledge of lighting, sound reinforcement, multi-camera video recording, video projection, and livestream platform management.
  • Highly detail-oriented and committed to operational excellence.
  • Eager to learn and stay current with evolving technology, tools, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and client-service skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in both Mac and Windows environments; familiarity with MS Office, PowerPoint, MS Project, Outlook, Adobe Creative Suite (including Premiere and After Effects), Camtasia Studio, and webinar platforms such as Zoom, GoToWebinar, and Onstream Media.
  • Skilled in interpreting and developing space diagrams, staging layouts, and complex audio/visual configurations.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams both on-site and virtually, ensuring technical excellence and seamless coordination between live and video production units.
  • Strong capacity to make quick, informed decisions and remain calm under pressure during live events.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting abilities, with a proactive and adaptable approach to solving production challenges.

 

EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • 3–6 years of progressive experience in the audio-visual or production industry, managing and executing live events and creative media projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing crews, vendors, and contractors in large-scale event production settings.
  • Proven experience directing or leading technical crews for major live productions and broadcasts.
  • Experienced in mentoring production staff, fostering a collaborative team environment, and maintaining high creative and technical standards.
  • Hands-on experience with live streaming and production systems, including Wirecast, TriCaster, OBS (Open Broadcaster Software), LiveU, and similar platforms.
  • Must pass the RVP program and maintain a “Green Light” status.
  • Must adhere to the Code of Conduct of the USBC Registered Volunteer Program is a condition of employment and continued employment.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and/or climb.
  • Must be able to move/lift up to 75lbs.
