About the Role:

Zenity's legal team is growing alongside the business, and there's real work here for a law student who wants more than a summer of admin. You'll draft and redline commercial agreements, help build a searchable contract repository, test AI tools that are starting to change how legal teams work, and research questions that actually inform decisions. This is a hands-on internship inside the legal function of a fast-growing AI cybersecurity company.

You'll work most closely with Zenity's Director of Legal Counsel, and get a real look at how an in-house legal team manages risk, negotiates with counterparties, organizes its own knowledge, and decides which new tools are worth adopting. 

NYC based preferred, but will accept East Coast remote.

This is a part-time internship, roughly 20 hours a week, structured around your class schedule. It starts as soon as possible and runs for about three months, through the end of the year.

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and redline commercial agreements, including NDAs and vendor agreements, and flag key terms, risk areas, and open issues for the legal team.
• Help build a searchable repository of Zenity's existing agreements, and design a system for organizing them that actually gets used.
• Evaluate and test AI tools for legal work, and give structured feedback on where they help, where they fall short, and where they're not accurate enough to trust yet.
• Research legal questions across areas like privacy, employment, AI, and commercial and contract law, and turn what you find into clear, actionable takeaways.
• Support improvements to legal workflows, documentation, and processes as the team identifies them.
• Take on additional projects as priorities shift, with exposure to different parts of an in-house legal function.

Requirements

Must-haves

• You're currently pursuing a J.D. and have completed a bachelor's degree.
• You have strong legal research skills and can talk through how you approached a research question, not just what you found.
• You have excellent attention to detail, the kind that catches an inconsistent defined term or an ambiguous clause on a first read.
• You can spot a potential legal issue and explain it clearly and concisely, without over-lawyering the explanation.
• You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• You're organized enough to manage competing priorities and comfortable with a scope that shifts as business needs change.
• You're comfortable collaborating with people across a business, not just other lawyers.

Nice-to-haves

• Curiosity about how AI is changing legal work, and interest in testing new tools rather than defaulting to the familiar ones.
• Interest in how legal operates inside a technology company, though no prior in-house, tech, cybersecurity, or commercial contracting experience is required.

• You've tested at least one AI tool for legal work and given the team a clear, honest read on where it helps and where it doesn't.
• Your research has directly informed a real decision the legal team made.

Interview Process

• Recruiter Screen (30 minutes) – an introductory conversation about the role, your background, and fit.
• Hiring Manager Interview (60 minutes) – a deeper conversation with our Director of Legal Counsel about the role and your experience.
• Final Interview with Finance Leadership (60 minutes) – a conversation with Zenity's finance leadership team.

Compensation

This internship is paid at $30 per hour.
