We're seeking a Lecture Agent to represent and grow speaking opportunities for authors and talent across Macmillan Publishers. In this role, you'll identify, negotiate, and manage lectures, keynote presentations, workshops, conference appearances, and other speaking engagements that expand our authors' reach while generating revenue and enhancing their platforms.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, negotiating events, and connecting compelling voices with audiences. You'll work closely with authors and cross-functional teams across Editorial, Publicity, and Marketing to develop and execute speaking strategies that support both author and business goals.

What You'll Do:

  • Secure and manage speaking engagements, lectures, workshops, and event appearances for authors and talent.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with conference organizers, universities, corporations, libraries, and other event partners.
  • Negotiate speaking fees, contracts, and engagement terms.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for authors regarding speaking opportunities and event logistics.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align speaking engagements with book launches, audiobook releases, and marketing campaigns.
  • Work with the department team on marketing initiatives such as weekly newsletters and social media outreach.
  • Track bookings, contracts, revenue, and performance metrics.
  • Identify new markets and opportunities to grow the lecture and speaking business.

  • A passion for books, authors, storytelling, and audience engagement
  • 3+ years of experience in talent representation, publishing, speaker relations, public relations, events, business development, or a related field 
  • Experience working with authors, speakers, creators, or other talent 
  • Familiarity with the publishing, audiobook, media, or education industries.
  • Experience reviewing or negotiating contracts
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or other customer relationship management databases
  • Bachelor’s degree 

The salary range for this role is $62,000 - $70,000.

This position is classified as remote but is tied to our New York, NY office located at 120 Broadway. Employment is subject to New York State tax withholding under applicable regulations.
