Lead, Quality Engineer

Summary:

The Lead Quality Engineer will be responsible for leading QA efforts across multiple projects, including managing offshore testing teams, ensuring quality standards are met, and contributing to overall testing strategies. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Development, and Architecture to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in API testing, Selenium, Java scripting, and a solid understanding of web and database technologies.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor offshore QA team members to ensure quality objectives are met across assigned projects.

• Participate in sprint planning and backlog refinement meetings to ensure QA needs are addressed early in the development lifecycle.

• Conduct detailed reviews of test cases and defects to ensure thorough validation and traceability to requirements.

• Perform XML testing and API testing to validate backend functionality and integration points.

• Write, execute, and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium WebDriver/IDE and Java.

• Collaborate with Product, Development, and Architecture teams to clarify requirements and identify test strategies.

• Mentor and train junior QA analysts, fostering technical and professional growth.

• Create and maintain test documentation, including functional, integration, and regression test cases.

• Develop and execute complex SQL queries to validate data integrity and perform backend testing.

• Analyze system architecture and requirements to identify testable conditions and potential issues.

• Apply BDD/ATDD methodologies in testing where applicable.

• Review and test web services and APIs (SOAP/REST), including performance and load scenarios.

• Support continuous integration and deployment processes with automation.

• Comply with all company policies and procedures.

• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

• This position is an individual contributor with no direct reports but may provide guidance, leadership, or training to others.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Experience in cloud-based environments (AWS preferred).

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or similar.

• Working knowledge of test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, Zephyr).

• ISTQB or similar QA certification is a plus.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree from a Four (4) year College or University

• 6+ years’ experience in QA, with a strong emphasis on both manual and automated testing.
